Thread: STUPID question, never had an MP3 before. I don't understand what the skins show

Firstly you have to rip your CDs into the MP3 format with ID3 tag info (ID3 tags contain all infor about the song. e.g. Artist, Title, Album, etc...)

Secondly in frodoplayer you have to build the database based on where you stored your mp3 files.

I know this was pretty general, but there is a lot to explain.

Believe it or not, that was not that general. I think I found some software free that will turn my CD's into MP3's. I do need to make sure I get the tag information, which is one thing I wanted to know existed. Thats how little I knew, that there was, and I could get, that information that belonged with it. Thanks for the help. I need to play around with frodo to figure out how to build the lists and all that. I am trying to get some MP3's so I can test it all out. On aol you can download as many songs as you want for 1 dollar a month, I think I am going to try that out for a little bit just to check it out and build a library. With the amount of time it would take to copy my CD's, I think its worth it.

I suggest you try Extact Audio Copy http://www.exactaudiocopy.org
It works very well and can get your album info from the net via freedb.
Or you could use iTunes as its ripping is very fast.

Good software for doing that is DBPowerAmp. It's free.
