I've been using T3 since it was released. Everyone will have a different opinion on media management. Here's mine:

I like it. I know that it takes 5 minutes to rebuild the database if I make a change, but I don't make changes all that often so it's not a real issue for me.

On the music screen there are two buttons to select sort/filter method for music (genre/all music/video etc), and a box for displaying the results of this filtering. I'd like this real estate back on the main screen, so I'd put those items on the pop-up that launches from the search button.

Those sort/filter buttons: I don't like how I can't remove video from the option list. I don't have video and I don't want to have any indication that I have hardware capable of video.

With the FM radio and the GPS, I'd like to be able to hit the menu/minimise etc buttons. I'm almost guaranteed that the little toolbar will cover up exactly what I need when I minimise radio and GPS.

The control that users have over FP is great, but the settings screens are poorly organised and documented. Sometimes I can't find a function that I'm looking for or can't understand the ones that are there, and I've been using it since release (SEARCH N00B!! ). I only figured out a month ago that BBAA means Browse by Album Art. I presume that you're dealing with this anyway as part of the re-write.

I'd like to be able to add custom apps to the menu screen, rather than go to an apps screen to access them. One less click.

I don't like how I can't show track information and a vis at the same time. They are embedded in the same thing, and I can have one or the other.

I don't like how vis don't work with OGG files, but that's a WMP problem I suspect.

    Oooh. Long post.

I hope the above is useful. I've been using FP exclusively because it's intuitive for me and it has a database. Please don't mistake the choppy sentences above for unhappiness - it's passion.

    C!

    1) What everybody else said.
    2) When using the lockout device, not having to press the vis button twice to get it to switch back and show the video/vis. I'd like it to be automatic.
    3) When launching a GPS program, have it see if the program is already open so it doesn't open multiple instances of the same program.
    Thanks frodo you're the man.

It kind of sucks when you launch the XM player you can't go back to a GPS menu. I like tuning in the XM then just viewing the GPS program.
Otherwise, I like it. Not much needed to be improved.

Studmonk3y, as far as your 3rd request... What gps app you using? I know that iguidance works the way you want. When I launch IG from FP it embeds it and I can hide it then choose GPS again and it will go right to it. It will not launch again..

Things I can think of but most have been said:

    1. Database rebuild takes forever.
    2. XM Alpha 3 - Include it in FP instead of seperate app. Have the ability to hide and go to GPS.
    3. Change visualtions on the fly.
    4. Have customizable sort options

And just a comment.. Your frontend is the best by FAR imho.. I've tried all the others and they don't even come close..

i do use iguidance, but currently have it launch as an external app because I like the way minimode looks a whole lot more than the embedded mode.

I would like to see a "pin" to always show the menus when playing video/vis fullscreen or to temp show the menu. I would also like to see the settings for the video menu to always show or temp show in fullscreen to be different from the vis one (currently it's just one setting). Cause I like to have the menus shown when playing music, but obviously not when playing video. Otherwise, love it .

I am still using take 3, and it is great...except...

    1. On boot, frodoplayer will resume playing, but sometimes the track title doesn't come up, and it doesn't remember the place you were at in music mode, directory, or directory 2.

    2. My shuttlexpress dial is set to scroll through the track list, but text is not selected on boot. I have to first touch a song on the screen, and then the dial will scroll through all the songs.

It isn't a huge deal, but i like listening to mostly whole albums at a time, and i like the way winamp media library sorts its music, i.e. when you click on an artist, it will then display all the albums you have under that artists name, then clicking on the album will either play it or list the tracks. So, maybe rather than having to select the artist then sort out and scroll down to find the right album out of all the tracks you have, you could maybe incorporate the artist/album buttons so that once the artist is selected then you push album it would list the albums for that artist. thanks for all the hard work!
