Unhappy Turning off Full File listing when in music root folder?

Is there a way to turn off the file listing when I click on E:\Mp3's?

If I click on an Artist Folder,Say going from E:\Mp3's then into E:\Mp3's\Metallica.... The return trip to E:\Mp3's takes about 3 minutes (Due to the loading of the file list in the track window)

Is there a way to turn this off? I'd love to go into an Artist Folder, then into the Album Folder and select the track I want. As is stands right now I'm stuck with just clicking on the Artist folder, and scrolling through 40+ tracks to find the song I want to avoid the 3 minute load time.

So far thats the only way I've found to be able to move track to track quickly.

and since I know someone will ask why its taking so long to list the mp3's...

    61,000 - 287 Gig.

Cliffs: I dont want to see a full mp3 list when in the Root Folder showing all the artist folders.

    Thanks in advance!

Are you in artist mode or in dir 1 or 2 because I don't see this happening to me (I also have a ton of music).

Post some pics or explain better.

    How do I switch modes?

Basically, I ran a scan on D:\Mp3's and set that as the default folder...

When frodoplayer starts, thats the Directory I see with all my Artist folders. It also loads every mp3 regardless of folder in the 2nd window.

When I go into an Artist Folder, and then attempt to return, I get the delay...

    Does that help?

Ok... Lets see if this helps.

    -------------

This is a fresh startup, without touching anything...

I click on Player in the top right, and get to this screen:

Notice how the top window is empty (near mouse) while the E:\Mp3's directory is selected.

Now, I single click on the E:\Mp3's\311 Folder to see the all tracks listed (6ish albums) in the top window

Now, if I double click the 311 Folder, I see the Album folders inside the 311 folder.

    Here's where the problem begins:

To get back to the root and see the Album folders, I have to double click on Mp3's at the top:

(Notice it is missing the scroll bar in the top window as it loads all the tracks)
This is what I want to stop. It sits at this window for 1:42 until I regain control over FP. I dont run into this problem when I boot up, since it does not list all the mp3's in the top window (see 2nd picture) However, its quite frustrating to go into an Artist folder, then return to the root and have to wait for it to respond.

Also to answer your question, I'm not sure what Mode I'm in... It says Directory on the top bar... So Directory mode I guess? I dont know how to switch it.

    I hope this helps.

Ok daven browsing thru dirs are a pain in the butt.

FP has 9 browsing modes (check pic) so my the best advice here will be trying all of then to see if something is better than you current setting.

Also my guess is that in the skin that you using (the arrow left and right next to the volume +-) is the buttons to change modes.

Give it a try and let us know.

Alright, thanks for the info, I'll give it a shot in the morning. Hopefully I can figure something out as its become kind of a running joke in the car that if you accidently double click a folder, your stuck listening to that song wether you like it or not. lol.

I tried a few other modes this morning and Album or Artist mode was 10x worse. It was re-loading the entire mp3 list and not even showing me the selection of folders. I just had a massive list.

Directory2 seemed to be the same delay as directory mode, and exibited the same problem, when I go up a level (back to root) it is hell-bent on loading the entire mp3 list.

I was just guessing there might be a variable in the INI file I could change to disable the scan when clicking on the root.

Time to ask frodo..... but I don't think there is a quick answer to your problem.
