Thread: FP 1.0.10 Hanging when launched, plus other issues ....

1st issue:
I downloaded and tested FP 1.010 on my desktop (Atlon X2 4200+, 2Gig PC3200, Geforce 7800) and it seemed to work great, but when I put it on my WinXP, EPIA 800 mhz with 128mb PC-133, Lilliput 7" touch, it stops responding as soon as it gets on screen. Only way to get out of it is ctrl-alt-del and end process. Granted my desktop has TONS more horsepower, are my specs too low for the new FP build?

If not, any clues on why it is hanging?

I don't think is a matter of performance, I think your specs are fine (I run 1.10 in one of my machines PIII 600 mhz without problems; also the changes on 1.10 are not that drastics for you to have a problem that you didn't have in take 3

So here goes my question:

Did you made a fresh install (OS + FP) or did you just installed 1.10 over your existing setup? and if so did you unregister the DLLs?

2nd Issue:
My Lilliput is only capable of 800x600 and higher non 16:9 resolutionson the EPIA 800. WHen I launch FP it doesn't open full screen, it opens on the lower right quadrant, with most of the skin off screen. Since FP hangs I can't get it to move. Is the default skin with FP 800x480?

Any suggestions?

Yes the default skin tha comes with 1.10 is in fact 800x480 (brushed aluminm by febsperanza) so you have anable advance resolution settings...go FP .ini and change this line to false:

USE_ADVANCED_SCREEN_SETTINGS=TRUE

The old version of FP I was using was not 1.09 take 3, but 1.02 or 1.03 cant remember for sure.

It is a new/clean XP install on a new harddrive. Clean install of 1.10 and teh required components for FP only. Will try changing the resolution line in the ini file and see if that helps.....BRB.

OK - edited line to false, now the skin correctly appears where it should, however, FP still hangs and does not respond.

OK, I tried running FP again with Task Manager open to see the CPU usage, and upon launch, CPU is at 100% and never drops, left it running 15 minutes.

The CPU usage was still at 100% and task manager says Frodoplayer is "Not Responding". HAve to end task from there to get out of FP.

on this new clean install of XP.. what version of media player are you using? what level service pack etc are you?

Win XP SP1, and I believe it has MEdia PLayer 9. I also have the K-lite codec pack installed.

hmmm... have you tried running frodoplayer 1.09 ? to see if it works?

Have thought about going to 1.09, but really dont like many of the skins for 1.09.

I am relatively happy with the 1.10 skin, is there a 1.09 skin similiar to 1.10?

I just cant figure out whats going on, I am currently trying to track down some more inexpensive PC133 ram to test that out as a possible issue (winxp is alot more memory intensive than my old win98 setup). New PC133 prices are ridiculous.

Just to let you know that the there is no skins for 1.10... there are all old skins use for 1.09 take 3 (that skin is brush aluminum by febsperanza like I mentioned before)

Im having the exact same issue. Fresh nlited XP SP1. M10000 board w/1ghz.
I had 1.09 running great but decided to try 1.10 and also receive the hang-ups with 100% CPU usage on startup.I also made sure to have anything pretaining to an older version removed before my 1.10 went on. I checked my .ini with one of the ones posted and its almost identical other then afew personal preferences.

I thought i'd chime in so you know you arnt alone with these problems, and i'll just go back to 1.09 until we figure this out.

Also i know its my first post, but i havent had anything relevant to contribute since i started reading these (great)forums for informantion over a year ago.
