Question ID3 tag rewritten after song plays

This is really wierd and I've searched here and Googled my *** off, but I can't find any mention of it.

When using Frodoplayer, after a song has played all the way through, the ID3 tag is written to. The "Comment" field becomes something that looks like hex.

If I fastfoward through a song it doesn't do it. If I play the song all the way through using Media Player, it doesn't do it. I thought it might have something to do with a playcount, like iTunes does. But, to my knowledge neither Frodoplayer or Media Player do this.

I hope someone can help me.

No one else sees this? I am seeing it on two of my machines now. So I'm either doing the exact same thing wrong twice, or this is a software thing.

It's really a pain b/c it triggers a Frodo DB rebuild every time, b/c the music folder LastModified time resets every time a song plays through.

Any help or input is appreciated.

    It doesn't happen to me.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

****, I tried the newest version of FP and it still does it. This is getting really aggrevating. I've installed newest Media Player and everything I can think of.

FP does use Media Player to play its tracks, right?

Can anyone think of any options to check?

Frodoplayer does in fact use windows media player to play tracks...

have you checked your setting in windows media player and its library?.. it might be trying to update the song info and adding it to the library.. which MIGHT be the cause of the MP3 file getting updated...

    im just guessing here..

Thanks for the reply, I'm getting nowhere on this.

I've screwed around with WMP options and no change. I don't even have it associated with mp3's on my machine. Removed all folders from its monitoring thing.

I've been to Options->Library and unchecked everything.

The files aren't changed if I manually play them in WMP, but I'm not sure FP uses a diff. interface than simply playing the file.

Are there some options I'm missing?

Well, I've finally found someone who can reproduce this problem.

    There's a thread here http://groups.google.com/group/micro...g+files&hl=en&

But there's no solution, and the last post is over a year ago.

I've unchecked every option, but no fix. I don't wanna stop using FP, but this is getting aggrevating.

Everyone should check their files, b/c more reading tells me this has been a problem since WMP 9 beta. MS hasn't realeased anything to change it.

Only fix I've seen is to set all files to read-only. What a load...

Frodo: You know anything about this? It triggers a DB rebuild anytime I play a song all the way through.
