500mA may be too low. You should supply it with 750mA to 1A. The actual drain from USB is 0A (well actually ~0.0003A) so everything is powered from the external source. If you take the LED jumper off of the board, it will probably work off of 500mA but that is a maybe. The jumper is if you are looking at the board with the USB/DC Jack on the right, digital outputs (yellow) up top, and the inputs (red/blue) on the left, the jumper is on the bottommost header on the rightmost 2 vertical pins (black in colour).

Yes the default skin (albeit fugly), will work fine for testing.

Ah yes, the Vista error. The source of my woes for the past month. Well you will be glad to know that I am getting ready to release a brand new software package that the USB communication is completely meaning from the bottom up, is redone. This will work in Vista and XP, but nothing below XP SP2 because it relies on the Vista WinUSB.dll which is brand spanking new. Even the Vista releases from November 2006 (Business release to like Dell), do not have this new driver, that is how new this baby is!

If you have an XP machine you can use that for now, but very very soon I will get the full new package out and release an email to everyone.

Probably create a victory thread too, because this was a PITA. Vista

Hey that's great! I'm sure everyone will be very grateful for the release.

I reformatted my machine and put XP on it just to play with this (I was impatient ). I can see my temp setting fluctuate (wildly ) which is exactly what I wanted to be able to do.

Well, everything is up and running now. I'm just getting into setting up two temp sensors just to test with. I think they are working just the way they should too. Sensor 1 shows temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit which is where it should be and if I hold temp 2 up to my skin shows a temp of about 85 degrees Fahrenheit. This is absolutely fantastic. Tomorrow I'm going to try one of the relays.

One thing I'm curious is how long the cable from the sensor to the brain can be.

Angry Indian huh? He does understand it's pretty much just you doing all the work right? Sigh... I'm learning how to use the skin designer now which means I used the yellow background in the program instead of the temperature model and can actually read my temps now haha. Do you plan to incorporate alerts into the program? Like if x condition is met, email x information to joe shmoe?

Sure why not, add it to the feature request program. I have done similar before (email through a program).
