Error is minimal, on the order same as above, at lower voltages. I'd feel better about going further with some of the 'analog value dependant' logic I have planned for my skin if I can get what I'm seeing with V2's debug in the current version.

    Nick: ok figured it out
wasnt at all with the byte stream
or the decoding of the value
it is with the history average
I had an average loop that didnt average n values of the array of n length, but n + 1 values counting n = 0 twice
    me: ahhhh
Nick: because I didnt reinitialize to 0 in the (if average) block
    all fixed

I figured it out. For now, set your auto-average to 0. I will send you a new exe soon.

That did it. It's a wee sensative, bordering on unstable, but the values are darned close now. I thought I turned auto averaging to false, but I guess I only did it for some. And those few were the ones that made me think things were ok for some times. Also with the version testing I may have got files mixed up, it's been know to happen. This is good news. That means I don't have add as many opamps to the circuit that I was dreading.
Back to modernity. Thanks a million for putting this one to bed.

How is the progress on this project? I've read through the whole thread and this journey has been interesting. I've had the same thoughts on starting a project like this, I just don't have the knowledge for all the electronics. Have you seen this project, seems to be a lot less hardware intense: USB Nissan Titan Climate Controls

    Looks interesting as well....
But what about us with manual, cable operated knobs?

    YOu need servos.

THe difficulty with HVAC control is that every car is different - we'd need a different kit with different electronics and connectors for every make/model of vehicle - there's no standardization.

There are many things that are basically the same, or there are very few variations on. But the details are important. From where to connect, to what kind of signal are you reading/needing to output, a lot more...

I wish it were easier, but I think the best we'll have here is a very detailed how-to that provides enough information for people to apply the controls to their own application. I've started pulling all of that type of info from IM's ive done with people here and this thread, and I'll start a new thread soon that is a little more structured and easy to follow.

To the other thread above, I've got it working (basically) it has bugs, and I've sidestepped a few issues, but I got swamped with my job, moving, my job, getting ready to go back to school, my job, scary current events in the news, my job, and other stuff. I see a light at the end of the tunnel, and it's safe to say I'll start working on this again starting next week.

I like what that guy did with his titan setup, he and I are pretty much on the same page with how to do the hardware interfaces, he did it with proprietary electronics, and it's not as flexible.(but can be in the future). I think I replied on that thread.
