Firmware update issues
I've just received my V4 brain, and it does not seem like PWM is working, so I want to update the firmware.
Now, how do I do that?
If I hold down the black button (not red) and apply power, Windows does not detect any USB insertions. (and the firmware update program cannot see anything either)
Ok, then I release the button, and the brain is detected by Windows.
The firmware program doesn't detect the brain now either.
If I try to install the "bootloader driver", I am told the inf file does not contain information about my device.
The VID/PID data for my brain are: USB\VID_04D8&PID_000E
The .inf does not contain that PID. I tried adding it manually, and now I could install the bootloader driver. Repeating the above steps (apply power, holding down button, etc), the update program still cannot see the brain, however.
So - how do I update the firmware??
System:Windows XP 32-bit.
Is this the first one, or the second one? If you ordered before Boxing Day, you have 2 in the mail. The one from the first package is defective. The second package has the newest firmware and bootloader. PWM should work out of the box too.

We ask that you send the old one back once you get the new one. If this is the new one, then something is amiss and I can try to help out.
I ordered two brains on November 20th, (Order #616) - ), so I suppose I must have received some bad ones?
Not sure - the FBDemo program doesn't show any analog voltages with all outputs off.
However, if I turn on several outputs, the analog inputs claims that several of them have a varying amount of voltage applied. I don't suppose that is the way they're meant to work...
My brains were sent with a tracking number which was first registered on December 26th, but didn't get shipped until January 1st.
I did get a second USPS notification on January 7th (in addition to the one on December 26th), but that ones status has not been updated at all, and is still simply "Electronic Shipping Info Received" - so perhaps you have not shipped my replacements yet?
I'd pretty much like if you'd sent some information about those defective brains - your USB communication skills are top class, but your mail ditto could be improved ;P
Everything notified on the 26th (saturday), was shipped the 28th (monday). Same day the second shipment notification went out, the boards went out. USPS has the worst "tracking" in the world. I have had things delivered when it still says "USPS was notified of shipment on blah day but doesnt mean we have it"
Anyways, if it is from the first one, then yes it is defective. The turning on outputs and getting inputs is not normal for sure.
The defective brains were flashed with a firmware that I had supposed was the most recent and full version, however it was not and was actually corrupt. This corrupt firmware also does not include a USB bootloader. So the only fix is to reflash using a real programmer, which I have done and mailed out to those affected, such as yourself.
The first shipment took around two weeks to get here, so let's see if the second shows up in a week or two.
What is the "pinout connection" for the ICSP header?
