    doesn't low or high have to be -0.06? or something similar? won't this try to trigger both of them at once?

    no because the code multiplies the high by -1 before comparing.

    Ok now you have me confused...

    function #3 is reading an analogue input, and then sending the key to winamp. That is a hardware button.

    A display button is a software button that is in the GUI section. Shows up on the screen and you click it. This is what I am referring to for testing. If you can push the GUI button and make the volume change, then there is a problem with the logic below. If it doesnt work from here then the problem is not with the logic.

    However, you said that Logic #3 works now? "UP" and "DOWN" are the arrow keys on the keyboard. My guess is another application has already hooked those since they are so common. Use "NUM8" and "NUM2" (the keypad numbers).

    This actually might the be the problem. I forgot to mention (sorry ) that the analogue input channel needs to have a history value of at least 2, one for the current value and the other for the previous value otherwise it can't compare anything, so it just errors out.

    Code:
          <iochannel id="volume" port="0" brain="radio" type="analogue_input">
            <options history="0" auto_average="true"></options>
          </iochannel>
    to

    Code:
          <iochannel id="volume" port="0" brain="radio" type="analogue_input">
            <options history="2" auto_average="false"></options>
          </iochannel>

    yep that works!!!

    hurrah!

    ....

    just one more thing

    ....

    i cannot get enough increments on my pot to send enough up keys to go from 0 to 100% volume.

    i have set the minimum_delta_vote_time="0.01" and low/high="0.005"
    which in theory should give me 1000 key presses. if i rotate the pot in 1/100ths of a second, but no matter how slowly i turn it it only travels at most 2/3rds of the volume range.

    i have tried quite a few different values. some better, none enough. can i get it to send three vote keys per fire?

    winamp seems to need about 60 key presses for it's full range. if i can get it to send three, i only need 20 fires, so can set the low/high to 0.25 (5v/20)
