Thread: Fusion outputs and hibernate/resume

I got impatient and just added ign,acc inputs to the fusion brain (3.3k and 10k voltage divider). When they are both 0, I turn the output off.

Works well enough for now. Plus I like having a volt-meter. Should I be worried about voltage spikes or anything like that?

Not sure why I never got an email about this thread until today, but sorry I missed it.

The divider will work just fine, and like you said, you get the nifty voltmeter too. Spikes would be a worry, as with all non-isolated circuits. If you are handy with electronics, a simple unity gain opamp after the divider, or an optoisolator would be preferred. If you would rather just buy something, then we sell a 4channel isolator with built in divider so you would just hook the +12v inputs direct to it, then direct to the FB.


But you shouldn't have any problems. Yet again, your house shouldn't burn down yet we all have fire extinguishers (I hope ).

Thanks for the info! I'm a computer engineering student, we haven't used opto-isolators yet but this sounds like a fun way to learn.

mouser.com has some good products for prototyping at reasonable rates and cheap shipping inside the US.

Just test your circuits with bench supplies and multimeters before you go hooking it up to the Fusion Brain!
