The semi-functional brains usually have one or two bad outputs. It's very rare than they have more - those would be "comatose".
"Comatose" brains will not flash properly, or are missing a IC. They are good for mocking up, or repair if you're good with SMD parts.
Act fast, we only have a couple dozen of these!
