    stupid relay question

ok using a standard automotive relay with the fusion brain should I be activating the positive or negative coil using the fusion brain I have finally gotten around to starting the hard wiring of the items my fusion brain will control but i can't get the relays to trigger I know it is switched ground on the digital outputs but I can't get the relay to trigger.

so basically what I am saying is Help

    Thanks,
    Yonu

How do you have it hooked up? It should be from the positive rail of the FB, through the relay coil, into the digital output (I think)

Your diagram is correct. The switched grounds on the FB are the inner pins. The FB on the same ground as the 12V you are using? The FB power jumpers set to 12V power and not USB power?

it is a v3 FB so i can't change the power and yeah it is on the same 12v ground at least according to my voltmeter

ok here is a odd one I decided to try something so i disconnected the power from the brain and it stayed on via the usb power I would assume this is not normal for a v3 fusion brain?

I found the answer to the power staying on issue so I am going to double check my relay and see what is going on because if i unplug the relay the FB cuts off if i reconnect it it turns back on.

so should I have a diode on the line to the digital output on the Fusion brain?

ok I double checked the relay and it is right i tried 2 others to make sure it wasn't a bad relay I even tried a diode in the line the diode stops it from turning on if i remove power however it doesn't turn on the relay

so if anyone has an idea i would be most greatful,

If you are using our relay, you just plug it in and it works.

You need to connect +12v to one side of the coil and then the other side to the ground switched port on the Fusion Brain.

The port will always show 0v or NC (Not Connected) when on or off respectively. It will never show the 12v or anything.
