From PC it wouldn't be *too* hard..
But, it would be extremely hard to have it controllable via phone... You'd have to write software for pretty much every different version and brand of phone..
Nah, Java is compatible with all platforms.

I may be able to help out with that side. I just need to see what u can do on the hardware side to get it working. If u can get it working Via .net, C# using the computer then im sure i can find someone to change it into java for us.

Ok, well start here then .. :P

    http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/pre...hp?p=The%20DIP
    but use this:
    http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/pre...p=Blue%20SMiRF
as it has 5v regulator onboard..

Shouldn't be too hard to add, since the USB setup is CDC and basically imitates a serial link anyway...? Might be an option for an addon board.. as at $60USD/piece it basically doubles the cost for an option only a handful would use.. You'd then have (possibly) a jumper on board to select USB comms or Bluetooth, which would tell the 4550 to listen on its RX/TX line, or via USB...

Well the problem is that the PIC doesnt decide what happens to what output based on its inputs. It just sends what it gets to the PC, and the PC interprets it and shoves it back to the PIC with maybe altering a DO state. The brain by itself is "dumb" so to speak.

With the bluetooth module, this would need to change because you effectively take all the processing on the PC and try to cram it onto a PIC...

So basically not designed for that at all. Why not an el cheapo usb bluetooth dongle, and then the program PC side might be able to interface with that sort of thing? This would require it to still be PC dependand.

If we move everything off to PIC processing, we wont be able to use the 4550 because it is simply not fast enough nor does it have the processing power.

Its certanly fast enough.. it doesn't have all that much ram (32kB). You wouldn't need to get the PIC to do everything anyway, like i'm saying this Bluetooth device IS what you are imitating over USB anyway! (a serial link)

If they do go with bluetooth it will probably help me out a lot... Im having the hardest time dealing with StreetDeck and both my DLLs and the ones that have been provided for me. Even with the code and what not StreetDeck just refuses to work for me... Stupid VBScript. I don't know I think I'm just trying to hard to get it to work with StreetDeck, I should just go back to scrutinizing the hardware and software I got instead of making my own.

I hate Java but if it will help this out I will do it, same with C++ except I like it a lot more than Java. A good idea would be to offer bluetooth on a more expensive model without USB or something like that. If not I will try and hack it in if I could get more info on how the PIC communicates with the PC... Im tired so I think I'm just rambling on but I will be willing to do all of what I said.

    1. It is not fast enough. We are sampling at 1000hz and it cant handle much more.

    2. Shipping on orders over $50 is free and built in to PayPal.

I think that's all the hardware questions, repost if I missed one.
