ok, that part I got, that's for the image to change depending on value recieved, like gauges & stuff, I'm talking about button animations... like I click a button & it then plays an animated gif, either once or a predetermined length or repeat time? I thought we could do that, no?....

ok, the stretch issue was the capitol letters, it works fine in all caps
I tried using an animated gif as a button, I used my avatar as testing, I can't get it to do anything but a static image.... how can I get it to be animated?
also, theres another thing I have in mind, probably useful for a lot of different things, is there a way to set a button as a timer, like say it sets for 15min, but then be able to hit either that button again, or another button, & be able to add to that base time? like 1 press gives 15min & then I tap antoher button 3 times & that adds like 5 min for each tap, giving a half hour total time to that output?
this is a copy of the test skin file I was using when the inconsistant output problem was happening... I left one #ai_input# & one #otherbuttons# from the default skin just as a reference for myself, I'm running the board off a 12v hardrive power supply so it's definatley getting good power, I didn't have time to actually meter the outputs, monday I'll be able to check that more, I am using a 5v regulator on the outputs but that shouldn't matter I think....

My Fiero Build Thread
yeah, monday morning turns into tuesday afternoon....
ok, I took out the ms, don't make a difference in the way it responds...
the problem i'm having is on all the ports... if I turn a port on, it'll either come on & I've got a steady output, OR it'll sometimes just dim flicker the led, if I leave the port on, the led will always go bright within 2-3 seconds or so, the problem is, if I want a 1sec pulse it sometimes works fine & sometimes just dim flickers.... when it dimm flickers the voltage reading across the outputs goes from like .22v up to maybe .56v or so, once the led goes bright it then puts out good 12v..., sometimes it'll glow bright & then go back to flickering too....
I tried this with the original software & the new, & it is the same, so unless theres a problem in both, that's not it...
I know I have good power to it, I isolated the few outputs I'm using with diodes, but the problem is still there, even on ports not connected to anything...
I've taken my skin down to just one button for testing, so it's not the skin...
if no-one else is seing this then I guess it is the board?, any clues as to what I can test on my end? I'd really like to get this working so I can move past the basic button presses & start really wiring this thing up![]()

ok, I found the problem
right after posting the above I got in my car & realized that I never sent the original pic back, it was enveloped & ready to mail, tucked in my sunvisor where all outgoing mail naturally goesbut when I saw I was having issues I decided not to send it back just yet,
well I tried the original pic & it doesn't have this problem at all! I didn't really start playing with this thing till after the 2nd pic was already in, which is why I didn't realize it was the pic initially I guess... now what I don't get is I thought a pic was like a cd, in that when there copied they are all the same, so why would mine be the only problem?
either way, I'll pay for another pic no problem & I'll send back the old ones too... lmk what ya think![]()

Yes the PIC is like a CD-RW sort of. But like all CD's every now and then M$ effs up and you get a coaster. However usually this is total failure or total success. Rarely is it partial success and partial failure. So it should have either worked or didnt work at all, none of this sometimes crud. Maybe yours is magical?![]()
Well get this fixed up. If you could just post the defective one back to Tim, it should be able to be cleared and reporgrammed correctly. So no need to buy another one, but thanks for the offer.
So for the other betas, how is everything going? Lets see some pics/reviews/suggestions....
We will be giving the final go ahead to the manufacturer later this week and if your voice is not out soon, we wont have time to design it in.
I think the headers as they are now are fine. I remember someone mentioned right angle headers, but keep in mind these are standard 0.1" pin spacing, so IDE cables should fit if you need to. Or im sure you guys are creative and figure something out.Any real big reason to go right angled over straight up?
Also I have not forgotten the dll, and I will start on that after my last final (the 14th). Between now and then, if anybody knows of an easy way to create shared memory in a dll with a code example in C#, I am all ears. I cant seem to get any help out of thescripts.com () This will be my 2nd dll ever, so it will be rough.
And thanks for the encouragement for my finals btw!
