All of the Microsoft GPS receivers, the old GPS-360, the newer GPS-500, and even the upcoming u-Blox USB GPS stick, work just fine with Garmin Mobile PC.

Hi,
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with using the Microsoft/Map-Point GPS with GMPC?
I am wondering if I will be able to use it since I already have it or if I should buy the GMPC with the included USB Device. Any comments or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks Marvin. I have the GPS-500 right now, and I am probably going to buy GMPC to go with it. Only thing, I just read that if I do not use their GPS reciever, then I can only register the software on one comp. Well, I am testing on different box, so does that mean that I won't be able to port the software over to the production unit when the time comes?
Quick Question:
When launching GMPC, it takes ages to come up on my desktop PC and I find the NAV very average performance compared with say Destinator 6.
I'm using the latest version of GMPC 5.00.50 with 2009 MAP for Australia, How can I get this to improve? Is it because my MAP is large 115Meg?
I've only started playing with Garmin so it's possible I've not unlocked it the rightway or something, any help on getting this to load faster?
Hi everybody. When I try to upload maps with mapsource ver (6.14.1) to my installed GarminPCMobile ver (5.00.50) I get an error : problem of communication with the Garmin peripheral . Syntax of the file name, repertory or volume incorrect !
Has anybody an idea of what I'm doing wrong ?
Cards a for sure unlocked...
Thanks a lot in advance
Kind regards
Kawa13, you are most likely not doing anything wrong at all. The issue is the Garmin's latest version of MapSource (6.14.1). Solution is to use v.6.13.4, as per information in: How to install MapSource to add maps to Mobile PC
When you guys install Garmin and look in the device manager, where do you see the USB GPS Sensor?
Mine shows up under
Garmin Devices:
--Garmin USB Sensor
Not under Ports.
Is this correct?
I've noticed sometimes after I've been away a while the GPS will not have a signal at all and I will have to unplug the sensor to get it to work again.![]()

http://www8.garmin.com/software/MapSource_6134.exe
