Got this from Garmin:
Thank you for contacting Garmin International.
As of right now I'm not aware of any plans. However, we do pass along all customer feedback that we receive, so if we receive a large demand for this, it will certainly be passed along. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

So please send request for PC product to them to email@example.com or trough their website... more we send - better they will think about :)
what did you ask them?
i dont even really care if GMPC stays discontinued... i just want to be able to use my program i bought for at least 24 months with updated maps.
and the maps dont even concern me because i know we can manually update them. its that damn activation process... whats to say the next time i go to activate it says "cannot find server" and never lets me use the software again?
imo, they should shut down the activation server now and put a patch on their website allowing all existing keys to work without live activation.
Not to bring an almost dead thread back to life, but after using multiple Navigation Softwares, I have found my home with Garmin mapping softwares. I believe the software was canceled since the GarminFone came out and no one really uses their PCs to run navigation since the price of handheld gps devices have dropped astronomically. That said, I have a garmin nuvi 200w and when I updated the maps to the 2011 version, i just copied and dropped the map from my nuvi to the main folder for GMPC and when I started GMPC, the 2011 maps loaded with no problem.
I would say anyone who can update their Garmin navigation devices, can also update their GMPC using the same maps.
My gmpc work fine with garmin lastest map update 2011.40. I cant see why the future map update would,nt work.
the maps for any garmin device are said to work with GMPC (per their techs) and given this you will always be able to update the GMPC maps until some radical new platform comes out.
when i discussed this with them last week they also stated that given all the new android and windows 7 tablets that are coming out this year it would be "highly likely" that garmin will release a new, better program to replace GMPC, so i wouldn't worry!
Hey any updates if there is a new version of GMPC cumming?
well if they do release a new version, i sure wouldnt mind a discount on it... or a free upgrade. or just dont charge the same price for the software as you do an actual hardware equivalent
Although it's discontinued, thesource.ca (used to be radioshack ) is now having an instore clearance. Just pickup up one this morning for $27.98, now showing on their site for $9.96.
You can search for Canadian stores that show stock online, toronto has stock, 6 in one location but are advised to call the store before going. I though the $27.98 price was good, but for $9.96 you won't loose much if you decide not to use it after trying it. As previous posts state, the map upgrades are still available, you will just have to put up with anything that's wrong since the last software update.
I believe I read somewhere on the internet that it is possible to have two GPS receivers on the same computer, may install both Garmin and iguidance.
