Just got around to doing this on my 64Bit Win8, spoken voice names are now working for me as well. I made an entry for the British voice and that also worked. I left the original voices in the registry and just added a new entry for Anna to keep Garmin happy.
Thanks to Dluvr22 for trying this and confirming that it worked otherwise I doubt I would have bothered trying it. Nice one.
Could you Please share your voice registry if you don't mind. I can't get my windows 8 to work I try edit registry and now I don't have any voice on my garmin mobile PC.
I hope you backed-up or exported the registry entry that you tried to edit. You seem to be saying that after your edit all voice entries in GMPC have gone or there is no longer speech of any kind in GMPC?
I'm running late and on my out. I can give you the REG entry to import when I get back. I am running WIN 8-64 however it only needs 1 entry in the 32 bit section for GMPC to work, I assume that WIN-8-32 entry is the same as this?
Dluvr22 has both versions, perhaps he can confirm this 32 bit entry for you and post the appropriate entry in the meantime.
What version of Widows 8 are you running?
32 or 64 bit?
Also what specifically did you edit in your registry?
Pate an image of that section of your registry to the thread if you can

There are multiple ways to go about this.
1. Create a duplicate entry of the Microsoft Zira voice but rename it Microsoft Ana
2. Copy and rename the Microsoft Hazel voice files to a name of your choice and create a new registry entry similar to Microsoft Hazel renaming it Microsoft Ana.
I went route 2 so as not to touch my existing files.
So here is what I did.
Go to C:/ Windows/speech/Engines/TTS/en-US
I duplicated and renamed the following files:
These are the Microsoft Zira Speech files .
I renamed them as follows for Microsoft Anna.
Then I went into the registry and created the registry entry.
I am running late for work so I'll continued this later with the registry entry I created.
Be sure to perform a system restore if you can before doing any of this .
Make sure your original voices are working first.
These steps are assuming you still have the default settings. Any changes you may have made before this may affect the odds of getting this to work.
As stated, there are a number of ways to do this.
A very simple way is to leave everything as it is and create a registry entry that points to the ZIRA speech files. The key to getting Garmin PC to see this entry is in the entry name.
Once again --- I have 64 bit Win8 and in this version there are two entries, only the 32bit section needs to be changed. So with this warning in mind here is a link to the 32 bit REG entry I created.
Download it and rename the extension .rex to .reg and import it into the registry (after making a backup of course.) Normally playing around with these entries won't case a failure of the OS however it may stop the speech engine if you do something wrong.
I have attempted to verify if the 32 bit entry in Win8-32 is the same as the 32bit section in Win8-64 but I have had no feedback on this so my file may not work but its worth a try.
And finally, if you have already damaged the speech entry section in some way then none of this may work until the registry is repaired.
I don,t want to confuse things further but Mickz is absolutely right and his registry entries are similar to what I have with the exception of the file name.
If you chose to go the route I outlined , I have exported the associated registry keys and zipped it at this location.
Let us know how it goes and we're both glad to help.
Oh and if done right you should also see the new speech name under speech in your control panel.
Thanks a lot both of you Mickz and Dluvr22 for the big help. My garmin mobilePC is running smooth with Anna speaks street Names. I am running the garmin latest map. Thanks a lot.

Glad to hear it's working, GMPC is still a great GPS app and I found a download link still on Garmin for it the other day. As far as an OSK (on screen keyboard) goes there were a few around and I wrote one for my GMPC imbedded into my FE. I really should convert it to a stand alone APP and post it, if you can't find something let me know. BTW the OSK in WIN8 is really nice to use.
