So after some searching I found this trick:
1. Download AutoIt from here: http://www.autoitscript.com/cgi-bin/...t-v3-setup.exe and install it.
2.Create a text file (let's call it OSK.txt)
3.Paste this text in the file:
$cursor = MouseGetCursor()
If $cursor = 5 or $cursor = 0 Then ShellExecute('"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ink\TabTip.exe"')
4. Rename the file to OSK.au3
5. Run the file.
It will stay in your taskbar and monitor the cursor.
Garmin inputbox cursor ID is unknow which mean 0 for AutoIt. inputboxes of most other apps have ID 5. So this will also work in other apps.
This script can be tweaked to work only in garmin. I use it with windows 8 and it is great for both Garmin and other apps like IE and Windows Explorer... Windows 8 OSK is just what Garmin is missing :-)
Original idea is here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...2726ac1?page=2
Just installed the 2014 maps for North America. Again I had no problems. Works like a charm
Edit 09/23/2013: Updating subject line as newer maps are available.
would you mind sharing your map updates?:spy: or at least a step by step of how to update the maps from the 2010 maps.
FYI Installed latest maps the other day and just got around to upgrading the car pc from Win 8 to 8.1. The upgrade overwrites the Spoken street names mod in the registry. The .reg file I made for importing into Win 8 works perfectly with 8.1, just a 1 second fix and street names are working again.

I asked if since they had no interest in the product anymore and it had "no value", why not just share a workaround for those that want to keep using it. She said it wasn't possible....sure.
So first of all, for those of you with software version only, "heads up"!
Second, I have bought 2 copies of this legally and this is where they have left me...so... does anyone have any tips or can point me in the right direction to help me get this running again? Thanks.
You're in good hands if you're working with SNO.

However to make things easier here is a bit of useful info, you never have to reinstall Garmin PC again on any new PC.
Garmin needs 3 things to run.
1: If you use Garmin in HW mode with a Garmin GPS RX then the file GARMIN.NVM needs to copied to the new PC User's directory:
C:\Users\User name\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\GarminMobilePC\GARMIN. NVM.
You could just copy the complete C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Garmin directory as it also contains user setting for GMPC, but like I said, the important file is GARMIN.NVM as it contains the Hardware code for the Garmin GPS RX.
GMPC in SW does not need this directory or file, but if you want to retain your settings from the old PC then copy the complete directory structure.
2: The copy of the Garmin program directory is all that's needed to run the program itself (Installed directory where you launch GMPC from via Que.exe).
3: For a SW registered copy you need the file SW.UNL to be in the program directory. To switch to Hardware mode just remove this file. This give you a simple way to switch between a registered HW mode (Garmin GPS RX) or SW mode (any GPS receiver.)
The SW.UNL code in this text file is machine specific (PC hardware dependant) so all you need is a way to generate a new code for the new PC hardware that the existing Garmin directory was copied to.
Hopefully that is what SNO is helping you with.
Your existing unlocked maps should work, for adding the latest maps there is nifty app that simply does this with one click.
I, like you and others, purchased Garmin Mobile PC in good faith (I also purchased the Garmin RX) and because of Garmin supports arrogant, uncaring, selfish, ignorant, moronic, self opinionated, insipid way of answering questions and not giving even a tiny fraction of support, many users are happy to stick it to them and help people who were left with no other option.
NOTE: To make this perfectly clear: Copying these files and directories is in NO WAY considered a crack or bypassing the SW. This is the normal procedure I use for my HW registered copy - Registered GPS RX that the GMPC SW is looking for. This is why GMPC SW is never locked when it sees a Registered RX and the Garmin SW can be installed on as many PC systems as you desire.
