    mini lcd button/interface brainstorming thread

(i posted this in gen. hardware because i think it's more then just an lcd device)
So i found this blog today:
    http://www.metku.net/index.html?path...noki/index_eng
and it got my gears turning. a while back there was some talk about a 3 button mini keypad with lcd keys. i wanted to see what this forum is capable of by throwing this out there and seeing if we can adapt this to the car computer world. maybe having some of you 'wicked smart' people creating interfaces for this.

this may be a wast of webspace but it's worth a shot.

i was thinking it would be a cool device to integrate into the heptic encoder to switch displays as you turn the knob. if we packed it in a plastic case we could actually put a pushbutton behind it and make it an interactive lcd button.

I think the possibilities for this are endless... so lets get some conversation going about this!

please don't feel like you just need to talk about that particular screen.... any other alternatives are welcome

I was planning this for my X, put it on the back so when I camping I can have control from the back but I'm going with a PDA instead.

For the LCD I was going to use one of the 2.5" from the nitemax camera and buy a TS for it.

    Thanatos.

First thing that popped up in my mind is the Optimus 3 OLED keypad, but maybe I'm not quite picturing your concept yet.

yeah.. that is waht sparked this. but i thought it would be cool (and maybe less expensive) to have just a single key that was integrated with the heptic encoder that mp3car store sells.
