    Jetway mobo's

Ok, I've done a little digging around here but I can't seem to find a whole lot on these Jetway mobo's. I'm looking at getting the 2GHZ and the PCMCIA/CF reader daughterboard (J7F2WE2G and ADPCM expansion module. The mobo is the 3rd item listed under hot products on this website: http://www.jetwaycomputer.com/itx.html).

I had an MII10K previously that I was really quite happy with, but I found it to be lacking in some departments...mostly cpu speed. I figured that this time around I'd go with the MII12K as it's only about $10 more than the 10K, however upon stumbling across this I'm seriously considering going the Jetway route.

The thing that has me wondering is why the 2GHZ model seems to use 5w less power than the 1.5ghz model. Is that going to affect the performance of it, or is it just a low power chip?

Another question is about the ATX power connector. The mobo has the 24 pin connector, and the M2ATX that i'll be using only has the 20 pin harness. Since the case i want to use has ZERO extra space in it I don't want to use a 20 to 24 pin adapter as they can be quite bulky. Will i be able to just plug in the 20 pin connector and have it work off that or will i need the adapter for sure?

And i guess the last thing that i can think of right now is what is the reliability like on these things? Living in Canada (esp central Ontario) means temps of anywhere between -20°C and 35°C depending on the season. My MII10K used to run like a champ, and always booted....even if it was so cold that the HDD wouldn't spin up, which is why i'd have absolutely no problem dropping the cash for an MII12K this time around. The only thing that keeps me from just getting the MII is the CPU speed on the Jetway. Also, Jetway offers a 2 year warranty on these things which makes me think one of the following; either they are a truly honest company that knows they make a solid product and is willing to stand behind it, or, the product sucks and they offer a 2 year warranty to keep people from really *****ing about the quality.

Any input is greatly appreciated. As much as I loved my previous setup, i always thought there was some room for improvment, and since I can't seem to find a C2D board that has a PCMCIA slot (not to mention that I don't have the budget for such a beast) the Jetway is looking awful good right now. The biggest thing for me right now is knowing how well the MII worked, and not being sure about how well the Jetway will fill it's shoes.

    Thanks

    Trevor

I've also emailed Andrei @ iTuner about the issues between the Jetway mobos and the M2ATX power supplies to see if they've resolved the problem.

EDIT: He just replied and told me that the problem was fixed, so hopefully that won't be an issue

I have two of these motherboards in operation now. One is a firewall system and the other is a portable system. You dont need the 20-24 pin adapter. They added this for forward compatability to the new ATX style power supply,

I am runing one of them using a morex 80W PSU, the other is a desktop 150W PSU.

I have not tried them in extreem temps yet. You can always test one in a freezer

all in all I have been pleased with them.

    BUMP

I am in the same situation you were in some time ago and I am looking at upgrading to a new MOBO. The reason is CPU speed and PCMCIA slot (the main reason I went with the MII). I want a faster CPU like the dual cores but no other boards other than the Jetway offer the PCMCIA option. Ideally will be a dual-core with the PCMCIA slot.

Did you finallly purchase the 2GHz Jetway board?
    How is the speed?
Does it handle video rendering, video playback, flash well?
Do you use the DFX3 skin?

    Thanks for your help.
