Via Epia + SB Extigy - any issues?

Looks like I am going to be building a custom box after all, so as the main job of the unit will be for audio I was thinking of using that PCI slot for a Sound Blaster Audigy unit with the external sound control box and 24bit sound.

I figured this would be a sweet way to set up 6 channels to pass to an amp for 5.1 or DTS DVD but I am concerned as to whether the processor will be able to handle Dolby decoding - or will the sound card do al that work???

Also wondered if there would be a power issue involved?

Also looking at the Hercules Game Theater XP 6.1 with full hardware MP3 and external unit for all connections.

I'd just like to point out that the Audigy nor the Exdigy is not a 24bit card. While it may have a 24bid DAC, it has to downscale all the outbound audio streams.

Thanks, I read that too - I suppose I just wanted to acknowldge the soound quality of the unit.
