Relay is built-in for unlocking doors and I'm pretty sure there is an extra one that can be used for the mobo power leads. In the worst case, you might have to get an additional relay from radio shack or somewhere and rig it in parallel with the leads that go to the door locks. I'm pretty sure there are enough relays though. What would be really nice is if I could bundle in someone's ATX shutdown controller and some extra relays with these systems. Doing that, I bet the price wouldn't exceed 75 each. Affordable in my opinion considering it includes a car alarm system. I don't know about other people, but it's really a good idea where I live to have a car alarm system, especially if you have semi-valuable equipment in the car.

    Thanks,
    Jad

Many remote alarm/starter systems have an auxiliary output to turn on different accessories. And sometimes it's even programable: it can be set up for latching -on/off- or momentary
action -off/on/off- (the on time also being programable). This could be something else to look into.

Speaking of alarm systems & remotes:

They have versions up to 9 channels. It's probably a little expensive (especially for this forum) but at least it may give you some ideas.

I've just had a thought- when you unlock my car the inside light comes on for a min or until you start the engine.

So assuming that has +12v to switch it on, which stays live for that minute, one could with a couple of diodes link it with teh ignition at the relay.

    Make sense?

There are dozens of more recent threads on this topic with much better information. Check the dates before replying. It's considered bad etiquette to revive a long-dead thread.

I know when I was into hacking game consoles, there were some guys that used a wireless doorbell system to start an xbox. Check out the forums on xbox-scene.com
