    Help! Computer wont do anything!

I finally got all my issues taken care of, ran fine for about a half day. Yesterday afternoon left work and the computer wouldnt turn on. Got home, took it out of the car and took it inside. Finally got it to boot up, seemed to be running fine for about 5 min then all of a sudden shut off. I got it to start back up 2 times but each time it ran no longer than 15 seconds and shut off, now I cant get it to do anything, wont even turn on.

Ive about had it with this piece of ****, Ive had WAY more issues with all of it then was expected and Im about ready to throw it in the garbage!

I tried running it off a converter through the M2-ATX as well as plugging the power source right to the motherboard and can get it to do nothing either way.

Anyone have any pointers? If anyone on here is around Tampa, FL, care to help me out?

    Thanks for the help!

And also to add, dont buy anything from www.mini-box.com, those guys are WORTHLESS!

We don't have a clue what computer setup you are running other than an M2-ATX. If it is shutting off on you, there are a bunch of variables.

If your power supply is not properly matched with the computer, the shut downs you are experiencing may be from overloading the power supply. Eventually you'll end up blowing it up. When the M2 ATX fails, it usually takes out the entire system.

An online shop cannot be expected to provide you with trouble shooting support on an issue that's install related.

Before you go blaming anyone, I'd suggest you provide us with the information that's needed to help you trouble shoot your install.

From what you're saying it sounds like it could be any number of things.

Ive talked with the guys over the phone from MP3car as I got a few of the components from them. They were more than helpfula nd talked me through numerous things. Minibox on the other hand wont even recommend what to try or what to do. Im not new with the internet sales thing, I have 25k of aftermarket parts in my A4 and Ive dealt with plenty of people over the phone. Out of everyone Ive dealt with for parts for my car, minibox is BY FAR the most unhelpful! I dont need any crap about blaming anyone or "install related" The computer was running perfectly fine and all of a sudden stopped. Something went wrong and no it wasnt "install related" thank you

I was asking for a way to diagnose whether its the power source, motherboard, or what else it may be that I could check!

I don't think Red gave you any bad advice, and how can you know that the problem isn't install related if you don't know what the problem is?? just because it no longer works in the car or the house doesn't make any difference. It's all about how it was installed.

anyway your best friend here since it is most certainly hardware related, is your eyes and a multi meter. Now first you want to test for continuity on the power supply make sure you have a good ground. Also try disconnecting everything off the board (Ram, HDD, any PCI/PC cards, basically anything you can take off minus the CPU!) and plug in the power, check if there is a LED on the board to show that the board is getting power. at this point if your still not getting power you can check the Solder points for the power check power connectors etc., if you get nothing still after all that, see if you can change out the CPU with another for testing. and if that doesn't work either it seems as if the board is your issue. However, If it is try switching it on. if you get a bunch of beeps and whatnot that is most likely because the ram and everything else is connected. see if it runs longer than your other times than shut it off. then add components back one at a time (memory, hdd, opticals, cards etc.) if it stops starting after one of those then that is most likely the issue unless of course it is a bad cable etc.

This should all give you a good idea as to what could be the problem. I have found that the best way to fix something is to tear it down to the most basic point and test up. You should find your culprit.

Please use the above only as a guide. I will not be held for any damage you may cause to yourself, others, equipment, or anything else for that matter.

Also in the future, most people do not take kindly to attitude, nor does anyone appreciate being bad mouthed on a public forum. I can understand Mini Box's stand on not offering support with what to them can be ruled out as an install issue if you can tell them your troubleshooting steps and that you found that a certain piece was defective that you purchased from them, then you can ask for a replacement warranty etc.

Hope some of this helped, whether it be with your install or your future experience here on the forums

Ive already taken a volt meter to it, its getting power no where past the harness which plugs to the motherboard. I told the guy from Minibox that and he asked me if I had turned the power switch off and on, on the motherboard. Come on, Im not that stupid

Everything seems fine with the power source, the motherboard has no juice though

Sounds like the board is fried.........
