Am trying to install my silabs with an amplifier aerial. Rubbish results so far, but best using +5v from the silabs usb bus for the amplifation...
In order to install an aftermarket HU in my Audi A4, one of the components needed is an antenna adaptor that has a ign +12V input. For reference, here's a pic:
I purchased the Silabs USB radio dongle and am in the process of installing and am currently doing the antenna mod as described in this thread.
Seeing that the ground from the antenna adaptor is soldered onto the USB board itself, how will the board get affected w/ the additional ign +12V?
Also, I'd like to add that I've already tried a straight up, non-powered adaptor that performed like crap. According to the audi forum I also lurk on, that was to be expected. I'm so glad I didn't F- anything up during that first attempt.
Your input/advice would be greatly appreciated.
TIA!
