    Audiotrak prodigy 7.1 lt problems.

After being out of the car for 6 months.. I put the carputer back in and got it all hooked up.. the first boot up was fine.. soundcard worked. Then while troubleshooting some hibernate issues, I had to reboot a couple times. After the 2nd boot up, it detected new hardware.. a soundcard... but it couldn't find the drivers.

I've run the setup and unistall for the prodigy 7.1 lt several times, including running the infinstall.exe or whatever it's called and doing both uninstall and update drivers.. nothing seems to work.

It just won't take the drivers. I've tried 3 different versions from audiotrak.

It seems that they released some new drivers.. they list vista on them as well.

I'll give them a shot tomorrow but I did read something about no sound after hibernation resume.. if thats the case.. I'm screwed...

If you look back at my posts, you'll find I had some of the same issues with this card.

Bottomline, the 7.1lt is a POS and HATES hibernating. If you use anything other than WMP it will crash the system almost always. This is a known issue across all of the forums I've visted. Unfortunately, there is also little hope of audiotrak releasing new drivers.

I scrapped the card and installed a crappier Audigy LS card... I hate to say it, but it sounds "ok" and hasnt given me any of the problems.

Edit: I looked at those feb 2007 drivers and installed them. Upon installing, it shows a driver date of 9-2006. However, when I let winamp play, it didnt crash the system! Centrafuse is a guaranteed crash test though... if it doesnt crash coming out of hibernate with CF playing, this may be the solution!

Edit 2: It's still buggy as hell. :-/ No crashing yet though...

Edit 3: Finished installing CF on my desktop. The computer crashed the first time it tried to resume from hibernate... :-( Oh well...sorta expected it though.

Damn... so what is a good alternative for a soundcard? I'd rather fork out some money to have this damn thing stable.

What I found worked in one of the CF beta's was to exit the app before hibernation, then it would work after hibernate. An annoying solution, but a solution that keeps your audio working!

Picked up this SOUNDCARD CREATIVE|SB0570LPVP from newegg for $26.99... hope it works... I don't even care at this point if the audio is amazing.. I just need some tunes in the car so I can show off the install and drive around without having to sing to myself! :P

Oh, yeah... that is the card I am currently using too. Unfortunately, I bought mine at Fry's and it was lacking the low profile adapter, even though it shows it on the box. :-(

I stuck it in the case anyway and it works well enough.

A low profile case may have been a bad choice for us afterall? :-( I really would like a higher quality card, as well.

You need to make it output 5.1 and then turn on sub redirection or something like that. It should work then.

Hmmm... I had zero problems with mine using MediaEngine/Winamp, which is more than a I can say for the card I replaced it with.
