successfully set up my intel d201gly yesterday and did some testing...

this board is FANTASTIC always considering the price of about 69$!!! it uses average 15-20 watts, plays divx with 10% cpu usage, h264 pal/ntsc with 50% (who needs full hd on a 7/8 inch screen anyhow), is always responsiveness, hibernates (takes a while from bios to de-hibernation - probably a a bios setting i have to change).

the only problem i have seen are some 3d-effects not working (what is the onboard gpu - 7 directx?). also the digitalfx does not work (flash or again 3d/directx problem)

@fiberoptic. how did you get 800x480 to work, only saw 800x600 listed. driver update or some (hidden) advanced settings?

    happy now.

You mean that RoadRunner with DigitalFX 2.0 skin doesn't run? D@mn this is my skin of choice. I hope its just a DirectX or Flash installation/upgrade issue, software, not the mobo.

I'm interested in that subject too.

If RR and DigitalFX 2.0 run, I'll be happy too. If 800x480 works, I think I'll cry. hahaha

Good luck! The motherboard uses SIS Mirage graphics. FYI, my mobile phone has a better graphics core!!

    D201GLY and m2-atx

How do you use the m2-atx powersupply with the D201GLY motherboard if it doesn't have the little 4 pin 12v power for the CPU?

I also see that there is a m2-atx-HV that gives up to 8A on the 12v rail but it also lacks the 4 pin 12v connector for the cpu.

Can I just buy the m2-atx-HV and not plug in the 12v connector?

    Confirmed 800X480 and initial observations

    Hi all,

I just picked up this board, and confirmed that it does support 800X480 with the SIS drivers/utility that come on the CD - no need for powerstrip.

I just started testing, but my initial observations are as follows:

    - 240 pin DDR2 RAM. In my entire junk pile, not a single module would fit this board. Off to Tiger Direct I went. $24 for a 512MB stick. Check the technical product specifications PDF from the below URL for important RAM requirements.

    - Updated to the latest version of BIOS,

    - Navigating the BIOS is sluggish as mentioned by another poster, but not a big deal.

    - It supports USB booting. I was able to boot XP from a USB thumbdrive, however VERY slow. Probably booting in USB 1.1 mode.

    - Intel Rapid BIOS is a bit of a stretch. I takes nearly 5 seconds from power on to see the Intel splash screen, then a few more seconds to initialize before booting. There are few options you can manually set, so all devices are auto detecting.

    - Boot speed is decent with a Samsung 7200 RPM HDD

    - With 512MB RAM, resuming from hibernate is VERY fast, once you get past the POST.

    - I tested with RR and IG3, and the CPU utilization was low. Navigating the OS and RR was very smooth.

    - I don't play DVDs or games, so can't comment on performance in those areas.

    - No obvious way of changing the OEM splash screen to a custom one (yet).

Overall, I'm happy with this board. Compared to my EPIA C3 800MHz, this board has a lot more horsepower, the CPU runs fairly cool and the fan is quiet. If you can get past the slowish POST, and not a power user, this little guy is a good solution at a good price point.

    Hi rrgcsfb,

Did you test hibernation? I had a problem with another board that using 800x480 resolution the driver won't let the PC hibernate... Plese, can you test it?

I agree with you that this board has a good cost benefit. Thank you for sharing your test results.

i just got one too.. only played with it briefly but i didnt see an option for 800x480. Notta big deal to me though because i use an 8 inch 4:3 screen. Its a quick little board for the money. My only gripe is that the onboard audio is for some reason limited to just 2 channel output when its clearly built with 6 channel components.

800X480 and hibernate - works fine

vladcarpc - I tested, and hibernate works fine @ 800X480. Did you try the latest video drivers from the Intel site?

    Custom splash screen

For those interested in using a custom BIOS splash screen, this utility from Intel will allow you to insert your own JPG or BMP in the .BIO file
