Intel MINI-ITX board - D201GLYL & D201GLY

Hello all,

I just received my MotherBoard!

I see that it has the ATX power connector but also the 4 pin (2x2) power connector.

Do I need to use that 4 pin power connector, or the ATX (2x10) is enough?

The reason I ask because my M2-ATX doesn't provide a 4 pin power connector for the motherboard.

I recognize that was a dumb question.

I will have to find the P4-12v to P4-12v somewhere and use it with the M2-ATX.

I've had this board for a couple of months now. It replaced a full size ATX with a Celeron 1.1gig socket 370. Seems to be faster.

Vis (think I have milkdrop set up, but i'm not sure) ran at about 85-90% CPU until I dropped the graphics down to 16bit. Now runs around 50%.

I run it at 800x600 on a 9.2" wide screen. I tried 800x480 but it didn't work very well. I have not tried to update the bios. I bought it from MP3CAR and it did not come with a driver/utility disk. I'm going to look into that from the post above.

I'm using the M2-ATX PSU haven't had much trouble with the two.

CONS: I dont see where in the BIOS where you can disable the boot screen. I've had it hang a few times and can't see what the problem is because all I see is the Intel boot screen.

Can't see the BIOS with the wide screen monitor. When ever I've wanted to change anything in the BIOS it means dragging a monitor out to the car and pluging it in.

No standby. I've always hirbernated so it's not that big of a deal but since this is so low power I'd love to try it and see how standby would work out.

Every once in awhile, I'd say one in ten times, that I come out of hibernation it wants to display 800x480 the native res of the monitor. Which screws up the touch screen calibration and looks like crap. I reboot and that solves the problem for a bit.

Considering the cost, preformance, value, I'm very pleased with this board. Sure is a big change from a full ATX, mini ATX PSU, and an inverter to this and an M2-ATX!

Yeah I'm running this board now too, after my Epia V10000 broke
Boot times are quite fast, not as fast at loading up the first screen as the VIA one, but was much cheaper, also the lack of video out sucks VGA out only i wanted to run two screens one for the rear passengers for DVDs, front for PC, might have to get a seperate add-on card

The bios menu is very slow, but set it right the first time and you shouldn't need to use it after that. To disable the bios boot menu screen, there is an option to change the bios boot screen, it's under advanced I think and then "Disable full screen boot logo" - I'll have to check it out tonight, I'm currently at work.

It seems to run things very nicely, I'll get some pictures of my build and setup when it's finished, I'm running 1gb DDR2 667mhz ram, which gets underclocked to 533, it was about $10 cheaper to buy overall so I went for the faster stuff in the end

This board is good, I've had it for a while, for some reason my last post didn't come through

I'm using it on an M1-ATX, had to use the SATA cable, cut the wires and soldered a P4 connector to it, still supplies 11.84v on the 12v rail @ 12v overall power(coming from a test power supply, so that's fine.

Bios screen is slow to get into, but otherwise fine, boot logo can be disabled, look for the option:
Disable Full screen boot logo under advanced or boot, can't remember which one, helps you to check for issues

I replaced my Epia V10000 after it died with one of these seems to be about the same to boot into windows, but faster at loading videos and music, so I'm happy

Only bad thing is no AV out or S-video, not sure if any actually have the S-video sockets, I've seen it in pictures but never on the board itself

Odd I spefically looked for that when I set it up and didnt find it. I'll have to make another attempt. Maybe it's in a bios upgrade.

I also noticed that this thread is concerning the D201GLYL, I have a D201GLY, is there a difference?

not sure, I've got the D201GLY as well, did yours come without the S-video? maybe the D201GLYL has the S-video port on board?

Intel lists it as the D201GLY only, so it could just be a spelling error above

When google it refers to the D201GLYL "10 pack" when I look at the discription it mentions it being the D201GLY.

I saw a Intel® Desktop Board technical sheet that says . . .

Six USB 2.0 ports
One parallel ATA IDE interface with UDMA 33, ATA-66/100/133 support
One S-Video output port (optional)
One serial port
One parallel port
PS/2* keyboard and mouse ports

but their site makes no reference to a D201GLYL

well this got me puzzled so I've been looking around. Found an intel TPS.PDF which states:

"TThe D201GLY board supports S-Video output via 7 pin S-Video connector using SiS307DV supporting both 4 pin S-Video and Composite signal. For information about Refer to The Silicon Integrated Systems SiS307DV http://www.sis.com/"

Going to www.sis.com and searching for "SiS307DV" came up with this"

Sounds like there is an onboard chip that supplies the S-Video out. My board is mounted where I can't see if that chip is on it or not.
