haha nice good on you glad to see it runs again

I used DDR2667 Corsair Ram 1GB managed to get it cheap too $47NZ(35USD)
Yeah all IDE cables are fine, I'm using one from my old motherboard, might even goto a single IDE cable and run a USB external CD-rom, just due to the way I'm mounting mine

I've had a quick search for the SIS S-video chip, I'm not sure if mine is on there, if it is, I'll be willing to solder a 7 pin S-video cable onto it, just to see if it shows up
Because it'd be nice to have an S-video to component cable then run a 14" flipdown component monitor in the back for passengers, while I keep my 7" touchscreen to myself up front

I have this board, used it to build a NES PC.

Good luck with the s-video, your going to need it!!! I followed the traces on the board, and there are a lot of nessicary resistors and/or capasitors that arn't there.

oh, and go easy on the smilies!

    Use HD via USB?

    Hi,

I see that this board supports booting via USB.

I was wondering about using the HDD via USB, instead of using the IDE cable, just because its easier to remove (for instance, when need to take it out of the car to manage the files, add more music, etc..).

I dont know what is the performance of a HDD running on USB 2.0 x IDE.

    Thanks

i measured around 30-40 secs showing the intel splash screen before loading the os. i tried all settings in bios config program (deactivate unused floppy, hdd first boot order etc.) no impact!

is that normal to have such a choppy bios boot-strap?

So far the intel logo screen is being displayed for around 4 seconds only... THe boot time seems normal.

I have only the 2.5" HDD and PS2 keyboard PS2 mouse attached. Default bios settings.

    I am installing XP now.

    Thumbs up 800x480 confirmed

    Hi,

I also tested 800x480, it works by default.

See screenshot below (taken with 800x480 resolution already set):

So far this board is excellent.

    Thanks

Mine boots into XP and loads RR in about 45 sec. I have modified the BIOS slightly (only a couple of changes, but I can't remember what they were now), but I haven't done any flash updates or anything. I'm not sure why your system is taking so long.

EDIT: I timed everything last night. It sits at the Intel BIOS logo thing for almost 17 seconds. But the computer is still booted and ready to go in 40 sec from a cold start and 23 sec from hibernate. Good enough for me. I flashed the BIOS but still had no option to disable the boot logo.

    Click Agree
    Highlight Windows XP
    Highlight IGP Graphics Drivers

I noticed an improvement with Flash skins and .avi playback. I also tested that 800*480 still works.

i have a 40 sec boot time to.. the boot seems to take less time now that i changed the bios splashscreen. Resume from hibernation takes maybe 15 seconds.. it actually takes rr longer to resume all my devices so i'd say 30 seconds total. WAY better than my last computer that would take 2 mins to boot and like 3 mins to resume!
