Go with the e36 bezel in the MP3 Store... they say they have them in stock. once i get nmy engine replaced i shal resume this project
right im soon to be getting my car from the bodyshop, ill keep it simple as poss, anyone who knows the e36 knows the place on the dash at the bottom has the potential to house 2 din sized objects... my plan is a din car pc and with a din fold out screen.
(im hoping when the gear stick is in say second or fourth furthest away, a motor screen could make it out, im sure it could).
failing that theres always the top din slot,
basically the car pc audio output im going to put through the stereo if its still going to be in the top, hopefully on an input to the stereo then stereo to amp.... if not, input it to an amp maybe? i have some low profile ram a 2.5 drive some other stuff already... but i would like some advice as to what din case and monitor AND ofcourse psu i should finally end up purchasing for this project, it will be my first project so im not attempting to bodge anything but of course cost is also a big issue...
otherwise ive seen a system over at karputer with the din case that has the capability to play dvds etc without booting to windows, their site is down and tbh im guessing it'll be hella expensive...
advice appreciated if anyone takes their time to post.. even more if its an e36fan buff like meeee..!! (oh yeah its an e36 318 saloon but m3 styled with the big shiny schnitzer alloys..!)
Yours truthfully, flex..!
- Im considering buying a tc 1000 from lilliput as its got that bios to play dvds etc without windows...

The lower '2 DIN' is very shallow, so there is no way you will get a fold out screen in there.
You have 3 options for screen placement really.
1. Mould a screen in the lower half and relocate the OBC.
2. Mould a screen into the upper half and relocate the Climate and HU (My recommended option)
3. Replace HU with a fold out screen.
For pictures of my install have a look on www.en4cer.co.uk or www.bmw-carputers.com.
If you want to utilize whats below the climate control go with touch screen below
