Does such an extension cable exist? (Laptop DVD drive)

Does such an extension cable exist for a situation where I would remove my DVD drive from my laptop, and use it several feet away from the laptop (OTHER than a USB to IDE solution).

I'm in the process of making my own (18 inches). Don't think it will work over 3 ft. Ordered JAE part# KX14-50K11DE , KX15-50K4DE and have to solder the 50-pin connectors to my flat cable. Doing this so I can remote my DVD inside my car stereo's headunit. It already has a 10-disk CD changer in the trunk so one in the dash is overkill. Call JAE and ask them for samples.

P.S. Be in your hood Wednesday, how's the weather?

RAINY. Actually it looks like we may finally get a break from the rain this week. Other than that, HOT. Pack loose-fitting clothes. It's humid as all hell down here right now, especially if you're used to St. Louis weather.

Ok I'll check with JAE. I figured it would be a custom type of deal. I need to get my DVD drive up front too, and unfortunately the USB/IDE solution isn't working for me. I've tapped all the power I can possibly get from my pc/car, so it looks like this is the only choice for me .

I pulled the spes on my bose raio and the CD that I removed has a clean source for both 12V and 5V on the cable I'm gonna use to feed my CarPC sound back in. Win! Win!

Damn weather, Oh well the cruise leaves Thursday, maybe I'll stay a few days after I get back.
