why charles?? but I dont really see the point, SCSI is more expensive (unless u have the legacy hardware) and not too many mobos have SCSI interfaces on-board..... and anyway IDE ATA-66/100 is damm fast nowadayz anyway....

I think embedded solutions like carp00ters is one of the very few occassions I wouldn't use SCSI.

its really not worth it.. even if you had drives laying around. I mean old scsi drives will not be that big at all.

The only reason to do it would be so you could get hot swapping, and raid, so that if one drive goes bad, you dont lose any data.

i know you can do ide raid, and it will work fine, but scsi raid is faster then ide raid.

RAID in a car? What kind of data could possibly be that important?

If it's you OS and software config you're worried about, just make an image of the disc.

There is an advantage to SCSI though: cable length. Can locate CDROMs and HDs away from the computer.

Yeah, i know there wouldnt be any real important data, but if you were on a long drive, on a bumpy road, and one drive died, then you could still listen to music.

and i forgot about cable length, thats a big bonus, although USB2.0 would work just as well.

That's why you still take your old reliable stack of cd's with you
