    Loud Microphone?

Alright here's the problem I'm having. I have a blue tooth set up with my phone in the car, running the audio through the PC.

But I can't find a microphone that I don't have to have shoved halfway down my throat in order to pick up my voice. I need a microphone that I can put 2 feet away from my head that will still pick up my voice at a reasonable volume.

Yes, I have checked Mic Boost on the Windows settings.

I've gone through 2 mics now where neither one picks up my voice unless it's literally 4 inches from my mouth.

Does anyone have any product suggestions?

I'm up for other solutions too...extra hardware that boosts the mic volume, software that does it, little tiny cones that go over the mic that funnel more sound into it, whatever.

I am using the onstar microphone .. that I put my own 3.5mm plug onto it.. it picks up my voice fine.. but it also picks up a lot of roadnoise

I guess the ones that don't work very well have some kind of noise cancellation feature built into them, cancelling any background noise, however, because your voice is far away as well it also cancels this. Whereas the ones that work well, but also have road noise is maybe because they don't have noise cancellation.. therefore it picks up everything?

So maybe avoid purchasing any that have any noise-cancellation features?

Or maybe what about those microphones you get with mobile-phone handsfree kits, they seem pretty effective. perhaps you could pick up one of these somewhere, and if you're handy with a soldering iron, put a 3.5mm plug on it?
