It's driving me nuts. I haven't seen anyone else having this problem, so i assume i must be missing a driver or have something set wrong.

When i first loaded windows it was really slow, since then i transfered some files which was also really slow, and now it takes a few min just to view the contents of a folder. It seems to be slow whenever it needs to access the hard drive as moving the mouse or draging a window works fine until I hear the hard drive working.

I thought maybe it was the via drivers but after updating them (installing them took an hour...) nothing changed.

One thing i did notice is that none of the ide controllers are using DMA mode, though the hard drive is SATA and the sata properties page in device manager doesn't show that information.

Has anyone else had this issue or have any idea what might be wrong?
