I've been using my carputer (Jetway J7F2WE1G5D Rev 1) for almost a year now but suddenly one day it just decided to die out on me. Everything was working fine when I shut it off but next day when I powered it on there was no display. Computer was runnning but there was nothing on the LCD. So I took out the carputer and tested it at home(using M2-ATX) and same result.
I've already tried 3 different types of memory (K-Byes, Kingston and Patriot) and still no luck.
Now the question is, what could be causing this problem ? I've read other threads that mentioned a problem with M2-ATX that can cause that but if that's the case that when did it work for almost a year ?

I never even see the BIOS screen. Screen just stays black and LCD power stays orange indicating that its not getting any type of signal.
Ah... Well in that case we can rule out software!
Does your RCA output if you have one still work? Have you tried to reset the BIOS through the jumper?

Nope I haven't tried resetting the BIOS. I didn't think that it would make a difference.
It's running, but no display. 1 year seems quick for a backlight to go out, but maybe, due to extra vibrations from driving?

Well it could be outputting to the non-VGA channel. That is why I asked about if the RCA out still works. If you only have 1 video output, then the chance that resetting will fix it is slim but still worth a shot. The first rule to diagnose a computer is does the problem go away with a simple restart/reset.

Do you mean the LCD ? No, LCD works fine. I checked it by connecting my laptop to it and it works perfectly.
I haven't tried the RCA out but I don't have much hope for that either. The thing that I don't understand is that, how can something just stop working overnight
Somebody suggested that it might be a problem with the RAM and Jetway do not play well with anything other than 64M x 8 type so I'm planning to order this RAM (http://www.e-itx.com/1gb-ddr2-system-memory.html) and see what happens. I've already tried three different memory (K-Byte, Kingston & Patriot) from local store but didn't change anything though
If it was working for a year, I highly doubt it is a memory problem.
Did you get a little bit of a hot/cold/hot/cold weather pattern where you live? That could explain the sudden death. Or it could be that something metal fell onto the traces and kablam it doesnt work.
Im just saying that I dont think memory is the issue here. If it has a slot for a pci video card plug something old in there and see if it works. Otherwise spend your money on a new mobo.

No, the weather has just been hot (after all I live in Houston) !! I bought another mobo (same model but Version 2) and it had the same problem (tested with the same memory) which further indicates that it might be a problem with the RAM. I sent the board back to the seller and he tested it and confirmed that it was working fine. Now I'm just waiting for the board to be returned so that I can test it with other memory.
