So, with the purchase of a new car (2004 300m Special) comes the beginning of a new ICE.
I've been searching for a couple days now, but can't seem to find the right mobo.
Please be gentle as this is my first foray into the sub-standard atx board sizings.
I'll be running RR, LSX void 3.0 (when it's released) and iGuidance 3 (4 when I get the surplus cash available)
I'm looking for a board that will:
Be plenty fast for gps, mp3, dvd, internet, some games (nothing to heavy though).
Allow for dual monitor or s video out (rear seat monitors)
Must have two pci slots (or take a dual riser)
AGP slot or support 800x480
Game port for incorporating the steering wheel control hack posted on the forums (this is a hard one in mini atx form).
The more usb 2.0 ports the better.
S3 support not really important as I do a full shutdown/start each time (I'll wait a few extra seconds to avoid usb issues). Doesn't matter if it suports sata either.
I'm going from a full atx with a p4 2.26 ghz processor (essentially a complete small form dell optiplex gx270) and don't want to give up any performance when running visualizations, computing or dvd playback, but I'm tired of the realtively large amount of realestate it takes up int he trunk and I want to got dc-dc instead of inverter (dell atx plug is proprietary). I want the PCI slots for wifi and sound card support. USB is not really what I want to go with for sound either, so thanks if you were going to suggest it, but not where I want to go. I'm looking towards a high SQ setup eventually.
I'm looking for dual monitor support or s video so I can still use gps up front and my little girl can watch her dvd's in the back seat.
I'm looking at the intel little valley right now, supports most of what I want but it only has one pci slot. I can't seem to find if it supports a dual pci riser. And no game port. But, it's priced extremely reasonable. Honestly, that price (69.99) is a big plus, has me thinking about work arounds for the rest. I'm just not sure how fast the 1.3 celly will be compared to my 2.26 P4. I HATE choppy graphics and slowdowns. I'll stick withthe big paperweight optiplex and inverter if I have to deal with that issue on a lower power board.
Any suggestions?
