    Hello All
can anyone provide some info or help , I have a Mini dvdrw that will work fine when plugged in using the 2ft usb cable but when I try using the 10ft cable the computer see's the drive but the drive does not function , I know it has to do with the cabe lenght is there a 10ft cable out there that will work or some other option?

you can try to find a nicely shielded USB cable made of a thicker gauge wire than the standard dental floss crap that's in most of them. The thicker wires should help with the signal. It's not plugged into a hub is it? If so, try directly to the onboard USB ports.

I think the "standard" max length on USB cables is about 3meters. I have a USB cable from from the truck to the dash for my touch screen and I'd venture to say it's about 12ft. I took 2 6ft cables and used an adapter between them.

Try using an 'active' usb extension cable. It amplifies the signal so to speak. I have a 3m cable in my car with a 4 port hub at the end and all the usb hardware works perfectly.

Yeah, but you can get one for $10. I got this one and it works great.

The problem with USB extensionsīs is that they react different depending on your computer. I had an installation in a M2N-MX board and I never can make it work with my "homemade" extension , but the same works great in an A8N-SLI. Donīt wast your time with this issues: buy a extension with repetitor, thatīs the best solution.
