Global has it listed as $372.69 as motherboard only, but they also will put a cpu and ram in it and warranty the whole setup. The board has a mini-pci slot and global also sales a compact flash to mini-pci adapter. That would be perfect for the people who would want to boot from a compact flash card. Although the board is rather expensive it would suit my needs perfectly and I've pretty much spec'd my whole system for my Tahoe.
DWW-6500 (unless Panda drops the CT650A soon)
Intel Motherboard 2801280, with mini-pci/compact flash adapter (Global American)
Core Duo T2300 (Yonah)
2gigs of DDR2 667
250Gb Sata 2.5" HD
Voom-2 case
Chemei 22" lcd monitor for the rear passengers (stripped from chassis and custom roof mounted to be a flipdown)
2 pairs of Unwired (thats the name brand) Wireless headphones for the rear passengers (kids)
windows XP home, and RR frontend.
The whole setup out the door is roughly around $1600 and since I'm absorbing all the labor and will be able to carry all my mp3's, Disney movies and episodes of Spongebobon the hard drive, it comes out cheaper than any pure car electronics solution I can think of.
I wouldn't use this set up for an everyday car pc but for the people who have kids, and want the convenience, this boards dual audio and video capabilities, should justify its price.
Maybe if enough people are interested, the MP3Car store could pick up a few of them to sale. I'm sure buying them in lots of 10 would yield a a better price. Maybe not a discount to the end buyer, but enuff to justify having them in stock, so people wont have to search all over the internet for them.
i'd be curious to know how one could seperate the audio from the computer for multiple users? e.g. one kid wants to watch spongebob and another wants to listen to music..
