    Jetway J9F2-Extreme and MM400 Touchscreen

I have a car-PC system with a MM400 8.4” 4:3 Touchscreen and a computer with a VIA M10000 motherboard. I have used that computer for two and a half year now and it works fine.

I have now built a new car-PC with a Jetway J9F2-Extreme motherboard but still using the same monitor MM400. When I setup the computer at home connected to a TFT monitor it works fine but when I did connect it to the MM400 monitor in the car the screen turned to white during boot, I can go in to more detail if it helps but in short the graphic was ruined and the computer did not show any picture on other screens either after that.

I did put the old computer back and the screen worked fine, I also connected another computer to the screen without any problem.

I thought that I was careless and somehow managed to get static electricity into the graphic chip somehow. I did return the motherboard and received a new one. This board I handled extremely careful, I wore a waistband connected to ground all the time and when installing it to the car I took care to ground everything so there was no static electricity. But when I did connect the computer with the new motherboard to the monitor in the car the same thing happens, this time I got into BIOS before the picture on the screen froze and turned crappy. I did immediately turn the comp off and connected it to the screen at home, there the VGA mode still works, I see the boot screen and the BIOS and I can use the operating system in VGA mode but higher resolutions don’t work so the graphic chipset is screwed once again!

What is happening?? Why can’t I use Jetway J9F2-Extreme motherboard with the MM400 Touchscreen?? Maybe I can send the motherboard back a second time but I think I will have the same problem with the third one.

I have just sent back both of my J9F2 motherboards for different issues (seemed to have fried the RAM slots after BIOS upgrade - couldn't get 667MHZ to work) but I have been
running just fine with the Xenarc TSV 700 and Vista 64 Ultimate for over a month.

I highly recommend the board, as far as performance and power etc....I just wish Jetway would be more specific on their website about the BIOS upgrades, compatibilities etc...
So far Jetway is treating me right, no problems there... but the reason I own two of these boards in the first place is cause I couldn't get brand new RAM to stay booted with the default RAM settings...it has to be clocked down manually to 533 MHz...I didn't find this out until buying a second board...
Also that adjustment to 533 has to be done in BIOS before it locks up on you! I never did see any misc. options menu in my BIOS either, which is clearly shown in the manual. There are some fishy things going on, but it really is a great CarPC board for the latest generation stuff. I hope they work out the BIOS bugs.

You may want to look in your BIOS, as there are some flat panel setup options in there that may be of help.

    Jetway J9F2-Extreme

does anyone know what is the black slot in the bottom for?

all the websites say that it has 240-pin (SODIMM then) ram, but why does it have these big yellow slots on the top then? aren't they for desktop ram?
the black connector might be mini-pci then, which could hold a wifi adapter

    One of two things...
It's either a miniPCI slot (but why, then, would the board have a regular PCI slot as well?) or the board has the capability to use desktop RAM and laptop RAM.

    Very interesting...
Maybe it's an attempt to make the most versatile board possible.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

It's a mini PCI slot. The board can only handle DDRII 667 and 533 MHz memory, max 2Gb.

Yup, I have a HDTV mini PCI card in mine, which I can't get drivers for vista for (OMG i am such a newb), but the system does recognize it and all.... BTW, you need at least BIOS A03 in order to enable the miniPCI slot.

Yes, just the one slot...it is a riser card slot, so it may give the impression it is a double or something, but it is not...
