    What hardware would you suggest?

I am going to be on quite a tight budget until the Fed tax return comes in. When it does I will probably be paying the credit card off and then use the rest for some purchases. The LCD and computer parts have been picked out...all that's left is the audio part.

What are some brands you swear by? Rockford fosgate? Polk Audio? Blaupunkt? Kicker?

I am going to do my best at getting a nice sounding car audio system with the mp3 capability. I need (2) 6.5" fronts that have a component tweeter and some rear 6x9's that are all on there way out the door. Someone suggested polk audio all the way around including a 12" MoMo Sub by polk as well. Anyone have anymore suggestions for me?

    thanks

my 6X9's are cerwin vega. they also make 6.5 but i dont know if there are components available (probably). ive also used the 4x6 plate speakers from CV.

anyway, i absolutely love the 6x9's!!! ive had them for about 6 years and the still sound great.

the 4x6 i blew the first year i had them, but i slapped some bass blockers on them and they have been fine since.

sounds good! I had cerwin vega's in my last car and they did sound excellent. Are you pushing that through any type of amp or do you just run straight off of the head unit. I'm doing away with my head unit and will be running everything directly thru an amp(s). I'd like to see a nice and powerful 5 channel amp, but I might end up having to do 2 seperate amps.

I have MA Audio y3k series all the way around. 6.5 component set in the door and 6x9 2 ways on the rear deck and a 12 sub. My sub is not in wet because I am building a custom fiberglass box that will sit where my spare tire was. These speakers soung great but I wish I had went with another component set in the rear rather then the 6x9s.
Ok so I am back into it!!

you should very seriously consider Adire Audio drivers. If you've heard of them disregard the rest of this. They are a very enthusiast minded company that makes incredible drivers at low prices. I recommend their Shiva. Tis a very good woofer and you can't beat it for $125 either (not even with a stick).

The new Koda component set by Adire is supposed to be VERY good, but may be more than you're willing to spend.

A front combo that i can recommend is a Vifa 6.5 and tweet combo. While i've never used them, i've read they are very good, and very cheap too They can be ordered from here.

the JL XR650-CS sound great too, for around $200 on ebay.

probably what i'll be going with when i receive the exact check you are waiting for

    later,

thanks nathan! i will definetly check into that. never heard of Adire before but they sound well worth the look. JL makes some great sounding products as well as Infinity. The problem there is sometimes things get a bit pricey. I don't want the most expensive setup...just something decently priced that sounds nice. i guess it really differs with each person. everyone has their own set of ears

I just checked ebay out of curiosity in prices for MA Audio...and HOLY CRAP...the price for a pair of 6.5" component speakers is going for $15 bucks!? Am I missing something? Is MA Audio similiar to Legacy? I purchased some el cheapo 10" subs from them and they blew out so fast it wasn't even funny. But if MA is great quality I might pick me up a pair of these speakers just to play around with for my wife's car!

Try doing a search for "MA Audio review" on google, or look at www.epinions.com for info about them, or http://www.audioreview.com/ . both of those sites have a lot of information about a lot of products, although they dont have everything.

Ma is awsome stuff. Check out their website http://maaudio.com/. They have a forum there also where you can ask questions. They are a hundred times better then legacy. They have been winning many compitions with their synergy subs. that is what I am putting in my trunk. 1 12' that will take 1500 watts. This stuff is not junk. Very good product. I got some good deals on ebay also. The dealer in my area couldent even come close to the prices that I was gitting off ebay. I should have some picks of my finished trunk in a week of two. Good Luck
