It sounds like my adaptor I ordered might not even work. Where do I find a low profile video card that would have an RCA output??

Or would this work? If not is there something else of that sort that would work?

Try a used ATI Radeon 7000.

Yes I was asking how to take a VGA cable output into a single RCA input. Reason being, I have a carputer and have been through numerous flipout monitors which all suck. I had an Alpine IVA-D310 prior to the carputer ($1,600 flipout 7" monitor). After doing this, instead of only throw the carputer in the trash, you are more likely to throw both: carputer and the Alpine screen in the trash. Not because it won't work, but it will be much more disappointed with the result.

I just had a look in the user's manual and it shows (on page 78) the NAV unit is connected to the IVA-D310 Tuner Box connection labelled (13) right? (hard to see without zooming in) ... can you not grab a spare NAV cable and splice into that and use the (RGB) VGA connections from your PC to the NAV input? ... the connection labelled (14) in the Tuner Box is the display cable to the head unit (monitor) ... this cable must have all the right connections to achieve the clean screen output for the NAV & video inputs ...

The Tuner Box comes with the Head Unit doesn't it? ...

I'm sure others have used their NAV inputs for their VGA PC connection, on other units ... I'm sure we can do this ...

Yes the "tuner box" is the brain for the headunit. I will see if I can find a nav cable but not sure how successful that will be. Let me see what I can find and Ill get back to you. I really appreciate you looking at the Alpine manual and figuring that out!!

Well ... we got a little further ... a member here (Amar) actually posted a pinout for the Alpine NAV connector so we're nearly there seeing if this will work ...

Excellent, found a nav cable on Ebay, trying to find one local first, if not Ill Ebay it.

Thanks a ton for the Alpine diagram and for helping me out, Ill get back to you when I get the cable in hand.

From the diagram, looks like sound would be through that cable as well, meaning I could splice that into the cable from the computer for sound to be played through the Alpine?

Don't see why not ... but it's gonna be MONO though as there's only ONE audio connection going in ... NAV systems are MONO aren't they? ... so your Audio media from the PC won't get the full benefit of stereo ... also the audio IN might need attenuating a bit as PC output can be high (therefore distorting) if the volume is set too high ... but then you can control that from the PC ...

EDIT: Of course ... the pinout is from the NAV unit itself ... not the 'Brain' end ...

Alright I got a cable coming, need to decipher the color codes and what goes to what.

Now a VGA cable has horizontal and vertical sync which I know are very important but the alpine harness has only "C-Sync"

What else besides the RGB colors and RGB ground needs to be connected?
