Random question, is there any way to make Alpine's touchscreen work for the computer?

What else besides the RGB colors and RGB ground needs to be connected?
Well that's not a problem and it's easily fixed with a tiny circuit (1 TTL chip, 2 resistors, 2 capacitors) ... it combines both the V-Sync & H-Sync pulses into ONE called the C-Sync (Composite Sync) ...

We'll sort that out when we get there ... Bearing in mind I'm flying blind here

Might wanna throw that one into the LCD Topic thread ... I personally don't know, sorry ...

Here's a proposed circuit that combines the H-Sync & V-Sync signals to make the C-Sync pulse ... its based on Tomi Engdahl's circuit ...

    Tomi's' Circuit:

Bearing in mind all Sync pulses here are TTL levels ...

    Mine:

Simple ... small and hopefully powered by either the VGA connector or the NAV 'Brain' unit itself ... but NOT both ... the current drain will be very low ...

Also added an extra external Audio IN socket (MONO) along with a Composite Video IN too ...

    cheers,

Since the Alpine take in RGB signal, do a search for PSOne TTL CSync.
Doesn't look like it going to the trash after all.

Damn theres no way in hell Im going to get this wired to work. Someone want to do it if I send you the cables and pay you? If not your going to have to tell me exactly what I need to do. Whats going on with the H and V Sync in the middle of that diagram?

Don't worry mate we'll get it going (somehow) ... if you can't or not able to then I'll build it for ya ... just thought you'd like the xperience

Basically the circuit is setting up the pulses (combining them) so that the right Sync pulse gets through at the right time ... hence the XOR gates ... (X=Exclusive) ...

The first two gates filter the pulses and set up the TTL signals ... it sorts out the polarities for the Sync pulses ...

The second gate is the one that defines which Sync pulse gets through ... an output is valid if and only if one of the two input events occurs and the other input event does not occur ... i.e. only one pulse gets through at a time (one or the other but never both) ...

    UPDATE:
The third gate is an INVERTER ...

There is another option without building a TTL CSync circuit called "sync on green". A search for PSOne hack by Mpro use that method.
The reason I mention about the PSOne hack is not how to get the sync signal, but the video card that support custom resolution. You guys may need to use it when putting thing together for the alpine screen.

Thanks Matrix ... we'll give that a go before we try anything else ... appreciate the input ...

Just waiting for Shawn to get his NAV cable ...
