    vga to tv converter

    I've got the following screen:
    http://www.centurionsystems.co.uk/in...rindash2.shtml

I'm thinking about using a laptop, as its small and basically everything is there! Only problem is the vga video output!

Is there simply a converter plug or something to convert vga to RCA video input (see link above).

If there is.. will the quality be good?

I'm from the UK so any links to the UK would be nice!

    cheers for any help!!!

Wow, someone else doing a Corsa install. Got any pics or a site yet?

I think what you are looking for is a "scan converter". Do a search on this board, you'll get lots of hits. The quality won't be as good as a VGA screen, but will probably be adequate.

I've had a look at ur install mate! nice.

However i'm doing a FULL ice install... with 7" screen which i'm planning to use for dvds, vcds, mp3s, gps, games, tv, radio... etc etc

Will post pics up when i get it finished!

Just found a few on the net, one from Maplins which is about 50. However alot of other people as well as urself say the quality wont b very good! This is a problem as i want high quality clear picture really for dvds etc.

Is it possible to change a graphics card in a laptop to one which has tv out built in?

    cheers for ur reply!

    Well, you could always:

    1. get a laptop with a composite output

    2. get an LCD with a VGA input (most likely a point of sale application...very expensive)

    3. get a high quality scan converter. Big difference between a $20 scan converter and a $200 unit.

Honestly, I doubt you will notice much of a drop in quality on a 7" screen while watching DVDs. Text may be hard to read, but this is a problem on all composite output computers, so just increase the font size.

I think ill just get this convertor i've found and see what quality its like.. as long as the quality of dvds (any film format) etc is good i'm not bothered.

Was just thinking if the text is blured surely ull get minor details blured in a dvd.

    Cheers anyhoo!

I'm not sure if Maplin still stock it

Over the years they stocked quite a few one, of which was very cheap, 20 I think, but the quality was appaling. I was in there about a month ago and the cheapest they had in any of there warehouses was 70, despite what their catalogues said.

When I finally get the SBC to work (****ing SBCs) I'll probably be getting a scan converter from one of the EB group, due to there no questions asked returns policy
And you say people actually pay money for M$ Windows?
