HELP..BRAND new Jetway 2GHZ and M2-ATX not working

    Guys,
I've search through every thread here that deals with M2 ATX & Jetway. Some managed to solve the problem by some modding on the psu or memory swap, some totally no issues at all, where else some threads are discontinued or died prematurely before any helpful suggestions or solutions are posted. Both items are purchased from mitxpc.com The m2-atx was able to fire my M10000 board..no issues..everything worked fine...but when the new Jetway C7 2Ghz arrived, all my woes started. I've tried many ways to power the mainboard: 3 new 1Gb DDR2 PC4200 purchased just to ensure it is not a memory issue, 3 ATX 450w desktop PSU for powering the mainboard one at a time for testing, repeated clearing of the cmos, a working environment of 25 deg c..NONE permutation of equipment worked!!! CPU fan spins, green led lighted near memory slot, no beep or anything..no vga...HELP..I stay in Singapore and RMA back to MITXPC will incur hefty shipping which is unjustified as I received a faulty product(s) from day 1. and MITXPC has not even replied to any technical support mails I've sent. What should I do?alv

You need to be more specific about the RAM. Make sure it is non-buffered, and non-ECC.

If the motherboard doesnt work with a regular desktop PSU, either:

    a) the mobo is faulty
    b) you are connecting it wrong

assuming you know the PSU works. Since it is a direct plugin with a desktop PSU (I assume you mean Wall Power --> ATX PSU --> Mobo and not Wall Power --> ATX PSU Hacked --> M2-ATX --> Mobo) you are probably have the wiring correct.

So get a new motherboard. And next time buy from a reputable dealer. That is if you ram truly is 1Gb stick of non-ECC unbuffered.

OK... I just bought a Jetway board and had the exact same problem. I was all huffy and puffy and ready to blow down their customer service. I sent an email that probably wasn't worded the most flatteringly, but low and behold their customer service rocks. The guy and me went back and forth with emails for about and hour, never with more than a 3 min turnaround. In the end it was my fault. I put a socket P CPU in my Socket M board. My symptoms were the exact same as you. Power, fan spin, light, but no vga (I.E no posting form the bios). So, first thing I would check is correct CPU.

Next, after massive delay cause I ordered it from hong kong, I received my correct CPU and plugged it in. Power, fan, vga ,everything. Started installing windows and it freezes during install. Try again and get it to go through but then keeps freezing every 5 min. Right as I'm ready to throw it out of the window I read a post saying that the Jetways have problems running the ram at full speed. So I dropped the RAM speed down to 533Hz and I have not had a single problem since.

so.. two things to try out... good luck.

2k1toaster: Hi, the 3 pieces of new ram are definitely not ecc registered or buffered ram as these cost a lot more than the normal ones i'm using now and I do believe I've tested these rams on normal "low-end" non server based desktop mainboards and they worked fine. and yeah i plug an A/C 450w ATX psu directly to the mainboard and it failed to post. bummer... so in your opinion, is "mitxpc" non reliable? I'm hoping they prove you wrong....

cpsubrian: Hey, thanx for the chip in, but the mainboard I'm using is a CN700 board with a C7 cpu embedded so i doubt it has to do with wrong cpu chip. As for the stepdown on FSB speed, I think it can only be done WHEN i get to enter bios AFTER post, and we all know this is the problem i'm facing - no post...

So does this mean I wait for mitxpc to respond and if they don't, give up on them and buy from another GOOD online store and at the same time make sure everyone in the WWW (whole wide world) knows that they are not helpful when it comes to technical supprt??

I think it is the motherboard. I think they are liable. If they dont answer emails, then they probably dont care, and wont give you an RMA. Probably the cheapest place you found online right? Well "the cheap comes out expensive" unfortuneatly.

My suggestion is hound them with emails and phone calls to get an RMA number. Then send it back. Who knows if they will send you a new one, but hope they do.

Bummer thats it wasn't a simple fix. Now that I re-read your original post I do see that you mentioned it was a C7 DOH. Good luck man.

This Socket P thing really gets me because the Socket Ms and Ps are pin compatible. I really think that manufacturers should simply have a list of EXACTLY which CPU part numbers are compatible with their motherboards. I know a lot about this stuff and I have almost bought the wrong one so many times. Sometimes you have to dig deep and it shouldn't be that way...

I don't have the HDsafe card installed. In fact it is a bare board with only the ATX plug and memory installed in place, nothing else.
I've written direct to Jetway taiwan and guess what they have responded and suggesting the problem to be RAM related. I'm pretty surprised and pleased with their service..hmm..i haven't got the chance to rate MITXPC on ebay yet..I'm giving them another 2 days to reply my mail and if they don't I'm going to rate them badly on ebay and at the same time warn other potential buyers about their tech support team...sigh...i might as well start looking for another board as replacement.

Hey they are not that bad after all. They have replied to my tech support mails and are ready to process my RMA. Too bad for needing to pay shipping charges..but hey at least at the end of the day I might actually get to use Jetway board. I'm not taking chances, I'm sending in both the m2-atx and the mainboard.
