any updates on quick boot???
any updates on quick boot???
I kind of gave up on it. I went a couple of rounds with MSI support, and got nothing back from them. I never tried to use any tools to hack the BIOS. I've never done it before, it's kind of scarry, so I lived with it. Someone who knows more than I about these issues said (in some other thread) the boot time isn't so bad, so I just started to live with it. I had asked him what version of bios he had, but I think we both kind of forgot about it.
just recently upgraded... where are those tools they sent ya on hacking the bios?
quick boot quick boot quick boot!!!
It's been a while. No one sent me any tools. I just researched it some to see that there were software options available out there for it (with forums for support). I don't remember off hand. I'll dig through my notes to see if I left a trail of bread-crumbs to what I was talking about. Like I said I gave up on that, for the time being, didn't want the hassle of a corrupted bios.
So how's the board in car?
I've got it on my desk now, running horm / ewf and minlogon with a 8gb SSD. The windows loading screen takes 1/2 a bar till desktop, so I disabled it and it boots straight to roadrunner.
If only the bloody post doesn't take that long, i'll have an almost instant ON-
Is it stable with the 800x600, I havn't tried it with the 800x480 yet. Have you got that up and running with hibernation? My previos via had lots of trouble with the video driver not showing up.
I hope MSI wakes up and gives a better bios, I havn't seen bioses counting ram since a 386!
I haven't gone as far as you have with the speeding up of booting, but that's mostly because I was turned off by the delay in bios.
No problems so far with hibernation, and I did have a bit of a problem with 800x480, but I'm not sure if that was because I had a bad 8" lilliput or not (that thing was nothing but trouble, I've since moved to a 7" 800x480 and don't have any problems with that resolution either.
If I weren't so deep into this climate control project I'd be quick on getting into this again. But as it stands, I'm drowning in charts, schematics, spreadsheets, datasheets, mountain dew, coffee, pizza, psychrometrics, thermodynamics, and stuff.
If you get somewhere with it please post, you sound like you're well on your way. Have you tried the MSI forums? The guys there seemed very helpful, but they just didn't know anything about these industrial boards. Then the "customer support" (joke) setup they had on the global MSI site netted me zilch (nothing usefull anyway).
btw i managed to get dual pci card running on this board with a dual pci riser...
Digital TV here i come.
yesterday i managed after 3 hours or so to get a proper signal from a pci vga ( fx 5500) . i like the idea of having a second pci slot as there is a pci tv-tuner card sitting on the drawer.
what was very helpfull was this post and and the latest bios update from here
On the begging it was very difficult to get image on either of the screens. If i would post with pci slot first then i was getting a bsod after bios post screen ( windows loading) that i could't even see as it was restarrting fast.
Anyway on safe mode i disabled intel graphics. That didn't help as i was getting a 8m low res. Then after some more efforts and a install of previous drivers then i get into the windows with the fx5500.
Again i was getting no image till windows logon. Try to put it back on the pci first but then again bsod. The latest bios did the work perfect but to tell you the truth the live update from msi didn't detect that an update was needed. so i did it manual.
all work well now. Getting screen on bios on both ( that's not completelly true) screens and i like it .
Was wondering though about the memory. The modo supports until 4gb. the xp see only 3 . so the 256 of the card's ddr memory can be used or it was too much ?
i would also like to be able to dissable the onboard chipset and the memory's that it keeps
Thanks guys for the post.
