Question How to hook up PC to stereo...

For those of us who don't have a stereo with an aux input, how do you guys hook up your carputers to your car stereo? I have a pretty nice CD stereo in there right now, but I doubt that it has an aux in, and very few that I have seen do. Do you just have to buy an amp and wire up the speakers manually, or what?

Has anyone experimented with using FM broadcasters?

I have no tape (tape? whassdat?) deck only CD so that option is out.

    Thanks for your input

    bah!

just get a head unit with Aux-In. Sell your current head unit on ebay. Trust me, its worth it. The sound quality from FM Modulators won't be as good as an Aux-In.

Here's a good one. you can always find these on eBay for less then $180:

Or hack your head unit to get an aux in (if you are comfortable with electronics).

The one that I have is an Alpine CDM 7854, and it has a proprietary CD changer input, I was looking at that, but the radio manual claims that it won't allow you to switch to CHANGER mode unless the changer is attached... I might be able to fake it, but it'll probably be difficult.

Here's a few links about it.

    Anyone done anything like that?

Look, I'm telling you, get a Blaupunkt.

Here, I'll spell it out for you

    B - L - A - U - P - U - N - K - T

Most of thier models come with AUX-IN. There is a small $20 adapter you have to get.

I got the Casablanca, had it instaled (I'm a dope, had stereo co. install it), ran a long 1/8inch stereo cable to my line out of my sound card, fired up the PC and whola, MUSIC!

so if you hook up the computer to the CD changer input or the AUX-IN can you controll any of the winamp stuff with it to change songs? is there a plug in or something to interface between the two?
