Connect external audio source to Clarion unit via cd changer plug

    Hello all !!

I am trying to connect an external audio source to my
Clarion RD3 unit of my Peugeot 206. I have already
bought an FM modulatior for this job but I have the
feel that connection to the cd changer ISO plug will
    give me better sound quality.

I have found the pinouts for the cd changer plug and
the audio inputs are pins 18-19 and 20 (ground, right
    and left signal respectively).

The problem is how to activate the cd changer function
of the unit, in other words, to 'fool' the device in order
to recongize that a cd-changer is present.

I heard somewhere that a resistor can do the job, if you
short circuit the power source and the ground so that
a current flow is simulated that declares presence of the
cd changer. But I am not quite sure which resistor value
    to use.

Does anybody has any clue of how can I implement the
    above project ?

I'd really appreciate any help very much !

    Regards,

    Vassilis, Greece.

    have you checked google?

There was a thread in this forum just a few days ago on this same topic, but generic not with just clarion head units.

You'll also need to program BSI to aknowledge the existence of a CDC. It must be done in a Citroen retailer.

    I Haven't heard anything about a resistance!

Also you have to make an interface for the VAN Bus to cheat the radio and BSI.

OK. Wow I'm lost. This thread was nearly 3 years old, why did you revive this?

I would also be very grateful to know wether its possible in practise, thanks for resurrecting the thread!!

Although I think my clarion head unit and/or changer may be faulty as the CD skips all the time, despite the changer having being replaced recently, since I'm gonna rip it out to investigate that problem it would be good to have some info so I can begin to figure out if aux in is possible!
