    Post LED or E/L Backlight??

How can you tell if your LCD has the E/L
or the LED backlight or even no backlight without hooking it up??

MY LCD had a purple tint to the face when it was not turned on. It was a LED LCD. I say was because I put 12v in accidentally, so I ordered another one. It has a E/L backlight, so I will tell you what color it is when it arrives (Mon)

If you see a thin flat plastic strip alone the back of your crystal display, then it's EL. If it seems like there is a white (maybe some other color too?) box behind the crystal display, then it's LED.

LED displays are thicker than EL displays since the LEDs take up more space. EL is just a flat strip of plastic that illuminates when electricity goes through it.

ok. Thanks for the info. It looks like my screen has a piece of tape stuck on the back of the glass screen. So my guess is that it is E/L. It is very thin, white in color
