    Powering USB Hubs incar.

I've been thinking of how to do this. I know it can be done, so many of you already do it. My problem is finding a 12v to 5v power adapter that puts out the same amps as the AC adapter included with the hub. The only adapters I can find are very low because they're used for charging iPods, cell phones and the like. How are you guys powering your hubs in you cars? I heard something mentioned about using the 5v power of the power supply. Does this work or is it a crazy theroy?

Yes, you can tap the 5v from the power supply. It works as long as you don't overload the PSU.
Another option is to purchase a point of load PSU like one of these: http://store.mp3car.com/Point_Of_Loa...plies_s/10.htm

So to power the hub off the PSU, I would just use the +5v and -5v leads and splice into them, correct?

Actually that would be +5V and ground, red and black as found in a molex disk drive power plug.

Ok. That kept me from making a mistake. The plug you're refering to, is that the one that would plug into the back of a CD or floppy disk drive?
