A 1Ghz C3 is equivalent to a 700-800Mhz Pentium III
Via based their architecture on Intel, not AMD.
Is there anywhere that I might be able to find a CPU comparison; I'm tring to understand VIAs CPU line on the ITX line of Motherboards, as how they relate to Intel and AMD Processors.
ie
C7 is most like a XXX Intel or XX AMD chip, or something similar....
I dug around here and google, and I see a lot of 1.5 GHz this and 2.6GHz that, but lets face it, a 2.6GHz Intel Chip is not the same as a 2.6GHz AMD...So I'm having a hard time relating how fast a C3 or C7, also I am assuming that the terms Eden and NanoBGA are chip types (like Pentium or athlon)

micro-atx and c2d ftw, ydig..
best of luck getting it figured out!
Thanks for your opinion, but this does nothing to answer the OP's question.
Micro-ATX is just a formfactor. The only bearing it has on a vehicle installation is space requirements.
huh?
I'm assuming "c2d" means Core 2 Duo, but that's as far as I got...
he's going to need a lot of luck figuring out what you wrote there... I sure as hell couldn't fugure it out.
I thought this was a forum, not a text message with your buddy. I guess I was wrong![]()
A c2d is a good choice for a CarPC if you have a) money and b) the need for that power. For instance being in university for 2 engineering majors, I need to use many very high end and powerful applications on the go whether it be rendering something on my drive up the interstate, or run a transient simulation on one of my circuits. So I need to power.
If you are just doing a music/nav/video then something like a via 1Ghz - 2Ghz is plenty and energy efficient.
and we gatz 2 save da bandwith yo!!!1one!!

Ok so I get that the VIA c3 1.0 GHz Processor relates to an Intel P3 about 700 too 800 MHz,
how about a C7 1.2GHz, or a C7 2.0GHz.
I ask, as I have been using a Laptop as my CarPC, I am very familiur with Intel, and AMD Processors, and how they relate to each other, and how to determine speed/power, but I'm not sure what the VIA is compairable directly to, is the C7 2.0 GHz equivalent to a P4 2.0 GHz, or more like a 1.6.
I've been thinking about moving to a Mini ITX board, but if it can't handle all the applications which could include some moderate Video rendering, I was thinking about 2 PicoITX boards!!

Why 2 PicoITX boards? How would this give you any more processing power for any given application. It's still 2 separate PC's. Not really any way to combine the power. I'm confused...
CarPC:
1.8GHz Northwood, Intel 845 Mobo, 512MB DDR, 1x20GB + 1x160GB, Intel GPU, SB Live 5.1
Sound System:
Phoenix Gold RSD 65cs 6.5" Drivers, Infinity Tweets, Pioneer 305DVC 12", PPI Sedona 630IX, Alpine MRP-M500
I would split, the applications between each Pico... I already have 2 screens, One in the dash where my head unit would be, the other would be a flip down where my rear view is -removing the rear view.

Why not just upgrade your existing computer to something more beefy and just run all the displays from that computer? That's kind of what my friend did... he had dual monitors, on rearview, one at the headunit.
