Heatsink Shroud - Any ideas how to fabricate one?

Hey guys. I've managed to solve most of the problems so far with my first install, but I'm running into an overheating issue. Steady state the CPU is getting up in the 150+ range, which while still functional, is getting dangerously hot.Sorry the pictures aren't that clear but here is what i'm talking about. Things are tight in the case I built to fit into the 2-din slot of my dash, so tight that the air coming off the CPU heatsink is just getting recirculated back into the fan.

The problem is certainly that the hot air is just hanging around in the case. When it was on my desk I added a small 60mm fan to blow the hot air out and it knocked the temp down to 120ish. Unfortunately I don't really have the space to add a case fan when it's out in my car so I need to come up with another solution. I'm thinking that I can alter my stock heatsink to channel the hot air out of the case. Space is very tight, but I see 2 options for moving the air from the heatsink out of the case: I could drill a big hole in the side of the case at the heatsink, and/or I could use some kind of shroud or tube to run the air out the back of the case. My case layout would allow for about a 1in diameter tube of some kind. Either way I would need to make some kind of air shroud to force the air to move where I want it to go.

Any ideas what I could use to make one? Any other suggestions to cool the case? I'm not coming up with any easy solutions on my own.

Have you tried simply drilling holes to allow air to circulate and exit the case? Looks like you could use a thin 40mm fan on the side next to the CPU. I wouldn't bother with 1" ducting.

I agree, there is a open side were you can place 1 or even 2 small hard drive fans. Also drilling holes will also work.

You guys might be right. A 40-50mm fan will fit as long as I can find one that's thin enough. I'm a little hesitant to try that solution though because when it's mounted in my car there is a metal plate right where that hole would be that I would need to drill through as well to get any airflow.

I think i'm just going to try a small case fan right behind the CPU first. I have a little more room there than I thought I did. A 40mm should fit there as well. I'll see if that's sufficient to cool things off before I grab the drill.

there is another solution, but you will still have to drill thosr air vent holes. Go with a processor fan that has a blower... then make a small air duct from the blower to the outside of the case. http://www.logicsupply.com/products/jacg9ec_m2
